I've had this for a while but I looks like I might be able to get a neck I can make work... it's a early 70's Gibson SG200 that a friend of my sister's found in their attic or something and was going to toss out... so they gave it to her to give to me  it's maple and as thick as a LP...

still thinking.. but yeah they are on my mind, but so are Ric or... 1/4lb strat pickups... I think I am going to have to get the neck on [have a LP neck coming that I can cut the right tenon in] and see what it actually sounds like before buying pickups for it...

I have some really cool mods on my SG Classic. The neck pick up is always tilted and wobbles around because I lost the screw that holds one side of it. I modded the body around the input jack, by dropping it onto the ground face first. And I wrote "Who's Sorry Now?" on the pickguard. Also, the g string needs intonation, but I never get it set up.

I don't mod my guitars, too busy buying peds. I always want to sell the Classic but then I plug it in and get dat p-90 feeling. You know, that feeling of "IM GONNA PLAY SOME ROCK N ROLL MAN." Like single coils don't do that, and humbuckers are like... too aggressive to feel happy about it. P-90s are just like, dude play whatever music you want, just play it really loud and don't sweat it yo.

I have an '82 SG. I had it re-fret a couple years ago, and replaced the stock PU's with a Duncan '59 in the neck, JB in the bridge. Couldn't be happier with her.

Oh, and I threw it pretty hard at a gig and snapped the headstock off, so that had to be replaced. She's stronger than ever now.

Just bought a new SG Standard. Planning to replace both pickups (thinking something from Lace), tuners, and rip the stupid fucking bullshit circuit board out of the inside and wire up the guts like a real guitar (what the fuck is Gibson thinking?)... oh, and speed knobs. Top hats are lame.

I'm pretty sure i'll be getting an SG soon.

I like thinner necks and have about $1000 budget. What years/models should I be looking in to?

Gibson SG faded in that dark wood is really pretty but, i see tons of people selling them so they must not be that nice =/

I know these are a starter guitar, but jesus this thing is really really pretty and I want it
