thats what i was thinking, once the unit dies its lifetime is over and so is the warranty.

I want pictures of the power supply. Is this guy running it off a power transformer, or a charge pump, or just 9V?
From the second picture, it looks like one of those typical stomp box power jacks. If it's 9V, at least it's not dangerous.
