damn man, i love morningstar veggie bacon & sausage links, they have a pretty huge variety of burger options too some of which are great!

also regardless, i :love: light vanilla soy milk & firm tofu! :rock:

i only buy free range eggs and try to buy cheese without animal rennet, although you have to take what is written on the packet on trust.
i know that the cows suffer from being forced into having massively over extended udders and it is something that i consider

it can be very difficult to avoid any products exploiting animal carcasses, they always seem to stick an unnecessary bit of leather somewhere on a pair of trainers/sneakers, even if its mostly rubber and canvas, and i dont know if camera film is still made using dead animal extracts.

it often feels like i'm living in some kind of surreal horror movie with bits of dead animals stuffed everywhere .... when you look at the ingredients for crisps (potato chips) and it contains "chicken powder" .... wtf is chicken powder?!?

I've been pescetarian for about two years now, but I've cut down massively on seafood over the last month or two and should end up proper vegetarian pretty soon.
None of the major fast food chains here seem to have a decent option except Oporto. At home I usually just make pizza/pasta/etc instead of using substitute products.
The amount of shit I get from family about it is ridiculous though. Like I'm a bloody weirdo for not wanting dead animals in my food.

I've been vegetarian for almost 8 years. but I went vegetarian because I can't digest meat properly. I mostly eat mexican food, pizza and sandwiches.

morningstar buffalo wings are good.

quorn makes me sick. too much like meat? I dunno.

most places have 1 thing I can eat. and you can always tell that none of the cooks have actually tried that disgusting portabello sandwich before.

My wife and I have been vegetarian for 23 years. We both gave up meat when we were teenagers, so we were already veggies when we met. That was easy. We did it alone, but it's way easier to transition, when others are on the same page as you. So much of our diets are habit - but I guess that goes for just about everything, really...
We're big foodies and love to experiment. We have two healthy, happy kids, and they're both vegetarian as well. When they were young, they would eat meat if we were out with family etc., but we were always honest with them about the fact that they were eating animal meat. They both got to an age where they decided they didn't want to eat meat anymore, and that's fine too. We didn't want to impose our beliefs on them, and I would have happily continued cooking meat for them, if they chose to keep eating it.

I've never really been a fan of soy, so that's never really been a big part of my diet. I'll have it occasionally, but generally try and stay away from it, as most of it's GMO anyway...
the only "fast" veggie food I'm hooked on are GardenBurgers. Grains and LOTS of garlic. Mmmmmmmmmmm...
those things are amazing. And they're great on lunches, at work. Pop 'em in the toaster, and Mmmmmmmm-Mmmmmmmmm!!

We don't do it often, but eating out has definitely gotten a lot easier, in the past 10 or so years. Which is great, if you're on the road - or in a pinch.

Being choosy about what you order in a place like McCrappold's seems silly to me.

Same with the veggers who eat nothing but GMO produce.

I'm not vege, pescetarian or vegan. But I do moderate my intake of meat, especially red meat. And dairy. I try to stick to the quality stuff.

Organics, free of chemical pesticides & antibiotics. Grass fed beef/lamb from small operations as local and sustainable as possible.

I'm a sucker for filet mignon & iskender.

And I avoid gulf coast seafood, and warm water seafood in general.

Snow crab clusters? Bring'm on. A bucket of them.

And Nova Scotia oysters. Both varieties.

But if I'm literally starving then I become much less picky about what it is I'm eating...as most anything can taste good when you're famished.

since moving across the country the woman-friend and I have definitely begun eating better, granted when you're eating fast food 5-6 (or actually more now that I think about it..) a week, it's easy to get better habits.
We're eating low carb for the most part and a lot of it turns into vegetarian, like last night we had tofu curry with spinach, tomatoes, onions and garlic. Really damn good.

any tips would be greatly appreciated!!

i'm sort of a vegetarian i guess. i don't eat land or air meat. but i don't really give a fuck about animals. i love dogs and cats, but Jules was right, personality counts like a motherfucker. i was just trying to get at a Muslim grrL when i was about 17 and gave up pork. never was a huge meat eater, always liked pork stuff the least, so wasn't really a thing. then after a bit all meat started tasting funny.

so it's been about 20 years that i haven't really eaten meat. but i'm still kinda the worst vegie. i don't like beans, not a fan of lettuce and tomatoes, salads are kinda asinine. they do nothing for me unless they have so much good shit on them i might as well have been a sammich.

I don't believe in depriving myself. Food security and safety along with humane raising practice is more important to me than having a restricted diet. I eat as much local produce as possible. I do believe in non GMO. There isn't enough evidence; for or against GMO so I'm inclined to just avoid it until more can be established. I also don't want my money going to corporate agriculture.

Go organic/no GMO with soy. Otherwise you're ingesting considerable amounts of Roundup and who knows what else.

Same goes for all major cash crops; Corn, Soy, Wheat, Cotton, Rapeseed...the list is only, um...growing.

These crops have been engineered to thrive and produce high yields, even when saturated with pesticides/herbicides from sapling to harvest.

Cant say that sounds appetizing or fit for human consumption, IMO...

Here's my own personal mantra/misnomer(?) when it comes to food: If it's on clearance, it's probably lacking in nutritional value...is old...or produced through other questionable means; and therefore wise to avoid.

The good stuff costs more...but a high price doesn't necessarily mean you're getting quality, nutrition etc...

The sad reality is our food supply has been tainted by profiteers' greed; and we, the consumers are treated as guinea pigs and lab rats.

My mom is a hardcore vegetarian, so while I was growing up at home, the whole family had to eat veg. food most of the time. I'm an omnivore currently, but I've had my fair share of morningstar stuff...it's all pretty good, especially the bacon.

i was vegetarian for close to 11 or 12 years but have been back on the meat train for the past 3-4, eating it in moderation and mostly from reliable sources (organic, humanely raised, etc). that being said, i still eat mostly vegetarian to make sure i'm getting a well-balanced diet. fuck fast food chains - i haven't touched them in more than a decade save for one or two tour veggie burgers from BK about 7 years ago.

It's a brand, yeah the shops are gone, not sure if the company went with it.

Frys, you can find it in a few Holland & Barretts if they have a freezer section, just called slicing sausage - http://www.frysvegetarian.co.uk/wp-cont ... cklen1.jpg It's damn near addictive. Have you tried the packet mix burgers?

Yeah I only eat free range (local farms if I can find them) although I still don't eat them very often, I can taste a big difference in good and bad eggs.

I also consider the cow thing... I wont cut out milk probably but I rarely buy it and I don't mind soya or rice milk although it's not great with coffee as it seems to curdle. But if it's in something, not gunna skip it, although I don't eat whey or cheese made with animal rennet (even a lot of chocolate has animal rennet whey powder).

Cheese is my one weakness, I once again rarely buy it though, mainly due to price... do love it though.

Yeah avoiding everything is very committed, but I try my best, I wouldn't go out and buy a leather jacket, but if my shoes happen to have a bit of suede on them, i'm not spending large amounts on very expensive veggie/vegan shoes that i've been told aren't all that comfortable by vegans.
