We have a place called Killer Antiques in town.

Last I checked (like '03) it was really bad-ass. Like old man who owns a bunch of really bad-ass (if you're a nerd) stuff.

Well, we've got a music store near me with a ridiculous selection - last week I saw a 60's Strat priced at 18 grand. They always have a population of classic Rics in stock. Lately the buyer there went on a Travis Bean kick - they have at least four in stock right now. And they recently stepped up their pedal game, and now stock EQD, Blackout, Catalinbread, Black Cat, Walrus Audio and Malekko along with EHX and used stuff. There's another music store that focuses more on punk rawk/easily affordable gear - they build their own pedals there, too.

Some folks I know run a gift shop a few blocks from me that carry a bunch of funky tchotchkes - they're a go-to for holiday giftage. More importantly, they're finding ways to feature local artist through postcards, t-shirts, prints and letter pressed greeting cards. Also, they've taken a real leadership position among local shops, bringing everyone together for seasonal block parties with music, beer, and rides for the kids.

Then we've got Armageddon Shop, a record store dedicated to punk, noise, metal and indie. They've done so well that they've opened up a second location in Boston and started their own label.

There's also What Cheer? Antiques, which is a funky antique/oddities shop owned by local indie rockers. They sponsor a big Rock & Roll Yard Sale every year, featuring a huge number of records & CDs.

That's just a few - we've also got an assortment of consignment shops, tons o' restaurants, and some kickass liquor stores featuring funky wines and craft beers.

Since I've been watching the NHL playoffs, I really want to eat at Tim Hortons now.

Well hell yeah! I haven't been by in a bit, so I don't know what their inventory is like right now, but they often have cool stuff. Many of their self-built pedals are pretty utilitarian, but they have one nutty ring mod / fuzz that you might dig. They're on the same street as Armageddon Shop too, so you can get yr gear and CD needs met in one trip!

Let me know if you're coming through, man - me & bigchief will take you out for falafels or something.
