You weren't using a pick at any point in that demo, right Caner? When it comes to dirt pedals, it's always so hard for me to predict how it'll sound for me because most demo'ers don't use a pick, and it makes such a huge difference in sound.

Chiefy, the entire opening and closing bit with the drum track was pick. I also make sure to use a pick at some point in every vid, but I couldn't tell you exactly where. I know I used a pick in that one somewhere in the main demo part.

I literally have an old ashtray of about 200 picks sitting on top of a cabinet right next to me, so I just dive in at some point while I'm playing.

I do indeed like it... more so the second and third time I plugged it in. Would be nice with a bit more tone shaping (ala 3 band EQ or similar) but it does kick ass in a band setting.

good gawd i love the Possessed. i can't really downsize since we have song bits that use all the loots i have on my board, but i was playing with just B3k -> Pickle Pie B -> Possessed -> Flashback. so GOOD.

could so rokk a board with just those.

I feel exactly the same way. I've been practicing playing with a pick cause it sounds especially great with dirty pedals.

And I'm kinda the opposite. I really do suck playing with fingers only. I mean, I can do it, but it's bad. I do it for a few songs in our set just for tone purposes. But I basically need to fucking concentrate through the whole song to make sure I don't flub notes. And I can't slap at all. I understand that this "limits my versatility as a player", but since the pick sound is my favorite bass sound anyway, I just stick with it.

As for the chodes that diss bassists who use picks, I find that it's mostly an online thing. Whenever we gig with other bands, I never get the stinkeye from other bassists about it. Probably because they can sit there and watch me play, and see whether I suck or not. The idea that a pick is a crutch for sucky bassists really only comes up on forums and youtube comments.

that's funny, i always hear the weirdest shit from bassists with picks that we play with. it's USUALLY people that have just started playing or gigging. and i feel like a preemptive douche, 'cause after a set i'll say like,

"nice set homie!"

and get back something like, "oh. i can only play with a pick. i can't do all that tapping and weird shit you do."

"dawg. i SUCK. i barely know what i'm doing, it just looks wayyyy more impressive than it is. i can NOT use a pick at all. BOOM. YOU WIN."

and i KNOW they've had some bleeding sore of a douche-hole up in their face with that "HAH YOU'RE A FAILED GUITARIST YOU USE A PICK HURPRHAH FHRUFHHFHR DURPLAHAGGHIHSGSHH.".
