cant stick anything but 84s into an 84 amp. they are 9 pin tubes with sockets the size of preamp tubes. You also cant just stick in 88s to a 34 amp either with certain considerations

Hey Nick, why don't we ever see amps with more than 4 el84s for output? I want an AC100 with 12 el84s instead of 4 el34s, do eet. I want that el84 sound. Or has anyone built an amp that's an AC30 reamped into like 4 6550s? You know I'm not afraid of weight, just look at the Iron Pile.
