So does anyone know if it even ameks sense to have a ported 2x15 built for guitar? Dumb idea, or greatest dumb idea?

TJ asked this on the facebook doom room. I started running my marshall 2x15 a lot lately. It is ported, and I play guitar. Sounds awesome to me.

In Australia, look for Wild Turkey Rare Breed or Russel's Reserve.
Four Roses is pretty widely available in Europe and there are a few bottlings they do that are only available in Europe. You can't go wrong with any Four Roses Single Barrel or Small Batch.

That's great, because the ones you suggested are really hard to get a hold of over here.

Also, found an Ampeg GVT15H the other side of Ireland for €270? Worth asking if he can meet me half way?

Hey guys, been a while since I've been on here but I'm startin to get a doom project going on with my pal on drums. Just the two of us, the only thing is I feel like I'm loud but I don't push the bass like I'd like to and I kinda want to get a peavey musician so I can slave my OR120 through it and maybe run more speakers. I don't know maybe I'm now on a hunt to become gut wrenchingly loud and it's not getting me as clean headroom as I'd like right now.

I run a dual ported 2x15 with my Peavey VB2 and a triple ported 3x15 with my Dunwich.

tl;dr: GREATEST DUMB IDEA EVVVVVVVVVVVVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! :thumb:

if anyone's in portland, we're playing at ash street saloon tonight with burials and the wild hunt. should be a pretty good show. we've been practicing a lot, so maybe we'll play our songs right.

ahh ben looks like he put most of the resistors under the board. Looks like a Hammond OT, and a SVT style PT

Good spot on the Tranny, it is indeed Hammond and while I didn't look at the PT as closely, im pretty sure I saw something in there that said ampeg.

yea its going to most likely either be a SVT type PT or a Dr401 type PT. those are the most common approaches to 6 x Kt88/6550 amps. I knows its SVT because it has a separate filament xformer

Bummer news on opening it up though...back when I ran the 8 ohm at 8 when it was switched down to 100w...it did burn one of the screen resistors a bit and blackened the bottom of the tube socket...working with Ben now to try and schedule repair.
