I really only play league and the occasional sc2.

I like SC2 but I haven't gotten very deep into it, but the comp games are very entertaining.

I'm so rusty in DOTA. Played for the first time in 3 months last night. Can't remember my item builds.

I couldn't even figure out how to last hit, or even buy items in dota

The first thing is just timing. It's a little different for every hero and you just have to get it down by playing a lot.

You buy items from any of the shops. You get them either by being there personally or using a courier.

erm..k, I didn't say that right

my last hitting was horrible and I didn't know any champ mechanics (aside from the archetypes obviously, archer, melee bruiser, etc, etc) and the overall game moves slower than the original, and especially lol or even hon.
the shop was different than what I've been used to for years and i didn't bother taking the time to learn it when the lol one is already to my liking.


basically dota 2 reminds me of the old ffxi vs wow arguments from back when they were both at their peaks (granted wow peaked infinitely higher than ffxi)
essentially dota 2 feels like a lot of work for little reward
like whenever you do something you get an ingredient to maybe bake a cake from scratch, if you get all the ingredients you still have to bake it

in lol it feels like whenever you do something, you get a cookie

personal preference and all, I just like lol better

Personally I can't stand LoL, but I probably need to give it more of a chance as I'm very famliar with game mechanics and heroes in hon and dota 2. I also prefer the way the game works in hon and dota also.

I haven't tried LoL of HoN yet. From everything I have heard about them though I think I'll still prefer Dota.

Dota is a LOT more similar to hon than LoL. I'd say hon is def worth a shot if you like dota. I know a ton about hon so I could play with you and answer every question you could have about the game

lol definitely has the lowest skill necessary to be decent. And I'd argue that Dota takes the most skill and strategy to win as a team.
dota and hon are definitely the more difficult of the bunch, dota I think wins between the two.

the problem was that lol was free to play when hon had a buy in (granted I think most of us have spent way more on lol now than ever could have on hon) and dota is still in beta technically, isn't it?
dota should be the more popular one, but Riot got ahead of the curve fast and ran with the lead. Even Valve can't take that away now, the LCS (League Championship Series) averages around 90k unique viewers and has reached just under 300k for hyped matches...and does this 3-4 days in a row, every week...and has done so for the past 10 weeks.

I actually think hon is a bit little bit harder because it's a lot faster paced than dota, you have less time to think and everything happens so quick. the meta game is very different between the two right now also, due to having different heroes and different items. for one thing hon has more mid game items than dota, and dota has more late game items. there's a lot of intricacies but that's the simplest one

and yes dota is still in beta, and lol is definitely the more popular game.

Damn. Friday night is probably the only time I'll have to play until sometime next week. I may have a little time Sunday night but not positive.
