Summerfest 2013

Post by snipelfritz »

:!!!: :!!!: :!!!:

They've started announcing ground stage acts and it actually looks pretty great this year.

In case you're interested in the worlds largest music festival (I know that's not true anymore, but I <3 Radio is shit) or just like to watch videos of Lewis Black not even trying to be funny:

Alice Cooper, MGMT, Silversun Pickups, Cake are all acts I'd go just to see.

Atmosphere, Groupelove, Dr. John, Social D, Yeasayer, and others are all bands I'd make a point to see if they're playing the same day as the first list. Hopefully they release a schedule soon. Other than the headliners (which I don't want to spend the extra money to see although The Violent Femmes would be sweet), they haven't announced any dates.

Back in 2011 I saw a fellow ILFer's band (I haven't seen him on here lately), Canyons of Static (yeah, it was Rosscanyonsofstatic). They rocked out one of the little ground stages. It's cool to be able to see local bands playing a couple hundred feet from world renowned acts. I also saw The Flaming Lips that night. It was awe-inspiring.

Not sure if there are as many Milwaukee ILFers as there used to be so :idk: Maybe me and nieh will discuss the shit out of this.

I guess the lineup, like usual, isn't crazy enough for me. Their hard rock/metal choices have been really terrible overall since Bo Black left. I will probably go down there with friends to see MGMT though if it isn't july 3rd or 4th. There's also a good chance I'd go down there if there were good locals playing. Put me in the complain every year about the summerfest lineup group

I was at that flaming lips show (and saw meat puppets before that). I was out of my mind during that lips set and there were spaceships landing behind the harley-davidson stage. Very memorable lol

Wish the austin psych fest wasn't 20+ hours away!
