Partly, but also because he's honest. I like people that aren't afraid of their life.

i have ass/intestine issues too...not as bad as yours mate...interestingly, you lose all sense of pride after a doctor has gone up your arse with a camera a few times; especially when on one occasion you have a class of medical students watching on.

Yeah i do like his demo's a lot...but i guess different strokes for different folks...that guitar though...it's very hard to do anything but awesome with it.
It's funny, after i bought my Gibson SG, i started thinking about the other guitars i could have bought with the same money, if not less...this Manta rey was on my list but i past it up...not that the SG is bad, i really like it...but value for money i could have got more out the of reverend...but deep down, i've always wanted the Gibson headstock...call me shallow...its just something i had to do, and no matter what i would have bought instead, i would not have been happy until i had the the Gibson. The good thing is that from now on, i can buy anything else without feeling that void.

I went to my local GP about two years ago to talk about very private things and this hawwwwwt girl was sitting in the chair opposite. I was like, 'hi... ehhhh... who are you?' My GP stepped in and explained and I went 'Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh'. I went straight to the business pretending that I didn't care, but I did. I so did.

Black is the best colour for a guitar. It looks deep and especially cool on the Manta Ray. Even the shittiest things can look classy in black.

Man, I love this thread.
1) I'm 28. I feel 68 most days.
2) Someone convince me not to buy that modern player jag.
3) Might sell my Elements. Interested?
4) If you dig grind, check out my buds in Call of the Void. My big dumb face is all in this video, haha.

i played a few and i didn't like them...i tried the blacktops and they were better...but even then I suspect that it needs a bit of work before it becomes a good everyday guitar.
however, having said that, i may have been unlucky with the ones i played and there may be a really good ones out there...

What was it you didn't dig about it? I know that for such a low price it's not gonna be top notch, but I figure a pickup and tuner swap and it oughta be solid. But I've not spent much time with shorter scale guitars, so I dunno...

they just didn't feel very nice to play...i played about 3 of those modern players, and non of them were nice...also the pickups were a bit bland, no character and not enough growl for p90's.
I can't be certain, but maybe a good set-up would do the job on playability and pick up swap would be good as well. For me though, if i'm buying a guitar i need to to be either perfect, or close to...so any changes i need to make are miner. These ones were too far away from being perfect, in fact the Squire vintage modified Jag i played felt much nicer and with a pickup upgrade would be a better guitar.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
I know it doesn't really help the situation unless you have a ton of money, but I'm of the opinion that simply swapping out the pickups and hardware on a cheap guitar doesn't necessarily produce a guitar of similar ilk to on that comes stock with those accompaniments. In other words, the fret work, the woods they use, the wiring, the finish quality, these are crucial parts of a guitar and can't always be improved upon. So you can swap everything out, even the neck on a bolt-on guitar, but you're still left with a cheap hunk of wood for the body. I know Skip is a master at this and I know loads of others who happily do it, but I think there is some truth to what I'm saying.

i'm with you on that. But i've always put that down to my own inability to modify guitars.

I've had my hands on a couple Modern Players...the hardware is what they really skimped on, imo. The trems are especially shitty (I know of 4 guys, including myself, who had theirs break in the first week of use). The Jazzmaster-style pickups were a bit harsh, bland, wound too hot. Replace the bridge, maybe the jack, probably the pickups (though the triplebucker sounded great for fuzz/distortion...not cleans!) and I think you've got a great guitar. The core guitar is good. The neck, frets, and general finish quality on the ones I've seen were great.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
so a mate of mine plays guitar in the Graveltones...his a hell of a drummer and great guy too...they recently got proper management, and just last month one of their songs was on the cover mounted CD of Classic Rock Magazine here in the UK...not sure if its anyone's cup of tea...but here's one of their tracks:
