just curious, which pedal is it? your description sounds sorta like the ss/bs super puzzle...

Sorry everyone, I don't mean to be annoyingly cryptic in my posts, I'd just rather not get any more detailed until I'm sure the seller is/isn't gonna make good.
I'll be sure to keep y'all posted...

hopefully everything will be right in the end brother! just make sure you keep tom in the loop with what is going on. we love the fact that we can be a relatively un-moderated forum but we will not accept people flaking out with b/s/t deals!

Re: Someone sold me a broken pedal in the Buy/Sell/Trade
So yeah, it is a Super Puzzle from SS/BS.
Brian (from SS/BS) took a look at the video and agrees the pedal isn't working properly. He said I can ship it to him and he'll fix it for free (very awesome of him). Of course, that means paying to ship it there and back, which on top of the $150 I originally paid to the seller in the ILF Buy/Sell/Trade, and the $57 UPS nabbed me for, it will probably make this this most expensive Super Puzzle in the world.
I also heard back from the ILF seller, here's what he wrote: "Sorry for not replying previously, been kinda busy around here lately but the pedal was working fine the day I packed it up." (that's not a segment of his message btw, that's all he wrote)
So sounds like he doesn't want to work out any kind of a resolution with me.
Looks to me like I only have two options at this point:
1. Keep the pedal and pay to ship it to Brian so he can fix it, then pay to ship it back up here to Canada. This also means of course that the ILF seller in the Buy/Sell/Trade gets to keep my $150.
2. File a paypal claim, get my $150 back, send the broken Super Puzzle back to the ILF seller and let him sort it out. Then, I'll just go and buy a new Super Puzzle directly from Brian and be done with it.
Right now I'm leaning towards option 2.
What would you guys do? Any suggestions?

Combine one and two. File a claim with paypal. Send the pedal to Brian to fix. I'm sure there's a way you can tell paypal it took you $30 to pay for shipping to get the item fixed. Then you get the pedal. Douchecanoe only gets $120.

Didn't think of that. Never occurred to me that paypal would do a partial refund to cover repair fees. Yeah, that sounds like a good option for sure, thanks!

lol @ douchecanoe.
Sorry this happened to you. Seems like you've got a plan in place to get it resolved. Cheers!

they most likely won't. i've tried that before and they've insisted on my returning it and providing them with tracking info before fully refunding me. if he's blaming it on shipment, long as he declared its value with UPS you can file a claim with paypal and he can file a claim with them.

On a happier note, mailman just delivered my new Bigfoot FX Spaghetti Western Fuzz (this one I also bought used from a seller in the states), just plugged it in and it's working perfectly and sounds killer!

Re: Someone sold me a broken pedal in the Buy/Sell/Trade
the original seller should refund you the postage to and from brian at ss/bs, and at least have the good manners to at least apologise for the ups import duty.
could at least offer to pay half the unnecessary import duty as a good will gesture if it was mentioned beforehand that it would be by usps (they may have been ignorant of the differences)
buying and selling on these forums is based on trust and people who don't behave well should be named.
mistakes and misunderstanding can happen, as well as damage in transit and people not perhaps realising that there was a fault (if it was minor), but some people also don't care too much and just try and see what they can get away with, and that isnt fair or acceptable community behaviour

AGREED. Everyone should heed these words, this is exactly the attitude everyone should have when trading/buying/selling online.

Re: Someone sold me a broken pedal in the Buy/Sell/Trade
Thanks guys, I also totally agree. When selling I always make every effort to make sure the buyer gets a fair deal and a positive experience.
I wrote him to let him know I will file the paypal claim tonight and send him back the pedal soon, to which he responded: "Ok, sorry for the inconvenience"
So, it appears he's fine with the whole thing, so I've offered him the opportunity to refund me the money and skip the paypal claim.

Never mind. He says the money was spent on bills, now he's broke and can't afford the refund, so he wants me to proceed with a paypal claim instead.
Honestly, I kinda feel bad for the guy now.
Ugh, what a mess.
