Gibson 2737842 pickups - Identification help?

Post by Justinm1789 »

Luck of all luck, my friend found a (probably non-original, looks routed) pickguard at Guitar Center for.. I think he told me $10.

Not only are they loaded with genuine Gibson pickups, these may be the post-PAF 1962-65 pickups. Or Maybe Shaws.

To be honest I have no fucking idea.

Anyone think they can identify what these pickups are based on these images he sent me, or give me further instruction to help identify what they are?

- might not be able to read from this image, but the sticker is intact and does read something along the lines of "Patent No. 2737842", which I know is the same patent number they used for the tremolo system on '52 LP's.

My closest guess as to the pickguard was maybe some later Marauder model, maybe a oddball melody maker, but I'm pretty sure the pickguard was routed out to have the pickups fit, whenever that was done.

Any help appreciated. Thank you.

Might try mylespaul.com or the gibson forums. Sorry I can't be of much help here.
