Re: I must specify a subject when posting a new topic.
Update: the cat is stalking me: I woke up to go to the bathroom and the cat ran in my room as soon as I opened my bedroom door.
As I sit here typing this, the cat is scratching on the door to my bedroom.
Should I start a blog about this?
Interesting, huh?

I'm not a person?
Right now I can hear the cat breathing/purring outside my bedroom door.

I love cats.
Reminds me when I was young I always wanted to sleep together with our cats and dogs so sometimes I would sneak out of my bed and sleep on the sofa in the living room and I would be flooded with cats and dogs (we had six cats and three dogs), especially when I was ill or something.
That said, it can be annoying if the cat scratches your door all the time and there's lots of cat hair in your bed.
What you can do is get one of these refillable spray things / cans and fill it with water, everytime the cat tries to come in you spray it with water.
It probably won't like that, but it will probably understand and move away.
Edit:
Some other ideas which are less hard on the cat:
1. Tell your room mate about the cat (hair) problem and ask him / her to keep the cat in his / her room, it's his / her responsibility anyway.
2. Ask your room mate to get one of these cat scrub hands or get one yourself and stroke the cat with it, most of them love it and it will get considerably less hair on your bed.

So... with option C aren't you basically just turning your bed into a crib?
Cool.

Don't get me wrong, she's a sweet cat. She's just not my cat.
I appreciate all the suggestions. Thanks.
I've thought about doing this. I didn't wanna have to resort to that though. I know it's an accepted way of training a cat not to do something you don't want it to do, but I still think it's kinda mean. It would be effective, however, especially because she wants to also use my mattress and box spring as a scratching post. They don't like it, that's why it works. I would only do it if she goes near the bed though.

Some cats actually love water, a cat of a friend of mine always rushes to jump into the sink as soon as he hears the water tap is running, very funny!
You could also make terrible noises with your guitar and pedals as soon as the cat tries to get in, might work as well, but I don't know whether that would be more humane than spraying water on the cat's side of things though.

my cat HATES high-pitched feedback and trebly fuzz; try playing screechy gear demos on the computer.

I say option F which is to genetically modify the cat so that it doesn't shed. Problem solved.
Alternatively just keep a brush around and get into the habit of brushing down your bed after you make it (if you do make it that is) and make sure you wash your sheets regularly. So pretty much what Josh Pelican said.

I dunno, I own a cat and she sleeps in my bed and I've never really had an issue with cat hair being everywhere.
Sure I wouldn't go to pet her with a sandwich in my other hand but.. yeh.
Let the love in!
