Technical/vocational education?
So here it is, I spent way too much money on three years of useless liberal arts education. Down the drain. Ive recently switched to a community college with programs on robotics and electronics engineering. I really like the program I'm in and am doing well, but i cant help but wonder, is this really worth it as far as my future is concerned? How many of you have technical associates degrees? In your experience were they worthwhile? Did they land you a job making what you consider comfortable money? Should i invest another four years getting say....an engineering bachelors?

It's a good question, and I think a lot of colleges & universities are wrangling with it now. I sure as hell didn't end up using my anthropology bachelor's degree in my working life - I went back for a 3-year certificate course in design, taking classes at night, and that's been my job ever since (13+ years). Of course, both anthro and design were recently listed as two of the least employable courses of study, but that's a whole 'nother discussion.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

I have a science bachelors and a graduate degree. And I still make less money than two of my bandmates - one of them is a nurse with just an associates degree, and the other is an electrician that never went to college at all, he just had to apprentice to another electrician for a couple years. Do what you will with this info.

I am a machinist that went to night school for three years to earn a certificate. I do rather well.

I work in 3d printing, which is a growing field, and I know a lot of places look kindly upon robotics. I'd say go for it and if anything take night classes and look for employment as soon as you get your associates.

Re: Technical/vocational education?
do they have a GED sort of program in Canada at least? I'm not sure how the educational system works in Canada but in the states if you drop out of HS the odds are pretty much stacked against you.

Re: Technical/vocational education?
yes we do, I have not yet taken it though
I've got a pretty cool job at this hippy magic store, doesn't pay too well but ehh money is stupid
I get to play guitar quite a bit and I can be relatively happy sometimes ( that has less to do with the dropping out/job and more to do with my messed up mind)
