I think it depends where you will work at. We are a lot more "strict" in middle europe than in the US ( i once worked at a US company in Germany and they told me): suit, shirt and tie is very common - normally you even can't be overdressed that way. At least in my experience...

I think it'd be important to check what the usual attire is before you go out and get stuff. I'd imagine your employer wouldn't find it odd if you asked what the dress code is. As for the suit you could always try Topman's stuff, generally cheap enough and a pretty good fit. If you've got the duckets go to a tailor.

I'm still job hunting, but I will almost certainly be in an office since all of my work experience in the past 6 years has been with financial firms, and design companies.

In any case, I'm planning on making shirt and tie my everyday attire. It used to be back when I worked for a financial firm, but I've grown lax working for this small company for the past 4 years that doesn't care what anyone wears.

Also, I'd avoid TopMan - they use a fuckton of polyester blends in their suits, and the cut is VERY trendy (high button stance, super-slim fit, etc), which IMO ends up looking completely ridiculous, and will end up wearing out way too quickly for what you're paying. Your best bet is to get your measurements, then do some poking around. I snagged a beautiful 100% wool sportcoat from eBay and had it tailored to fit me, which all in all wound up being around $80, as opposed to buying something new for around $200.
