De-Strating thread.

Post by Nj0rd »

Hello again!

So I picked up this piece of wood and strings from my drummers place, he just had it lying around so I stole it. Haha.

Pulled it apart and decided I'd relic it, but am not sure if I'll keep it like that. Might strip it completely and stain it like a bone colour or something.

Now in terms of the de-strating of this thing I'm thinking I'm going to put a tele ashtray bridge in it with a humbucker slot and put in a GFS rocktron style humbucker pickup. I will keep the HSS style but cut out the ashtray from a strat pickguard (I'm thinking a black one) and then have two strat pickups in the neck and middle. I'm think I'll do black pickguard with gold hardware. Thoughts?

I'll link the parts I'm thinking. If anyone has cool ideas please tell me!

And does anyone have any knowledge of the GFS strat pickups? I was really happy with the two I purchased for my previous build (which I still need to ground the wiring to the bridge, ugh, might take it somewhere. that drilling is beyond my skill haha).

:) I'm excited for this. I think I might buy a maple neck too. coz I love maple necks.

I tore up a starcaster a while back. I used a heatgun to remove all the paint, went overboard and burned the hell out of it, liked it, and then added clearcoat. ended up looking like this-

I finished it with lace golds and a gibby 57. sweet player now. i kept the trem though :hello:

Easy to do if a bit time consuming. Once I realized I liked it I went back and burnt the sides to near black! I'd imagine if you were carefull you could do a pseudo burst this way. Also dries out the wood bigtime. Which imo = a good thing.
