playing a show in nyc tomorrow night - cool places to go?
i live upstate but rarely leave my mountain seclusion and venture in the big apple. i'm not the biggest fan, to be honest, but i'm driving down with some pedals and a guitar to play at the delancey on thursday night. gonna be there early with nothing to do. where are the coolest music shops/hookah bars/places to eat cheap food at in the lower east side?

I like Café Gitane on Mott St. just south of Houston. Cute café. Coffee's not that good, but the food is. Not really cheap. Probably not as cool as it used to be.
There are lots of good places to get coffee in that area though. Lots of places for cheap food too.
You could take a walk up to Other Music. Also, probably not as cool as it used to be.
For a crazy music store, go to Music Inn in the West Village. Not sure that place was ever cool. Crazy? Yes.
Not that any of this is helpful or anything. Have fun.

The LES is a fuckin black hole for me.
Been meaning to go to this place with $1 oysters that you smoke...

Desnuda the internet tells me.
The Cake Shop's cute; baked goods and records in on place.

I'm down in the LES.
Go to Ludlow Guitars, it's right below Houston so you can hit up Chanks spot as well. Try parking on Columbia street.
There's a nice Italian restaurant thats fairly cheap called Sauce, its on Rivington street.
Take the L to Bedford Avenue and get falafel at Oasis, its further away but its the best you'll get (and only 3 bucks too).
El Rinconcito (right near me) has some of the best spanish food around, and its very cheap.
