I got a wicked stomach bug after my honeymoon and dropped all the weight I gained, which was pretty convenient.

I have a dilemma - I love my Epi Les Paul and think it plays well, but the electronics are absolute garbage. Would it be better to spend the money to fix that stuff, or sell it and take the money and get a Studio?

I think the Standard is where Gibson has good feel but still annoying things like plastic tuners. And nowadays dumb ass PCB electronics. Stick with older Gibson models like 2006 or older. Standards a minimum.

I use a monarch driven by a lutherdrive for my dirt.I'm chasing that surrounded by thieves kinda tone thats nice and wooly, but still tightens up in case you need to chugga chugga, does anyone know if a black forest would get me closer (I love the luther, the tone I get out of these two now is a bit more like down though. not a bad thing...)

The Black Forest is perfect for both tight chugging and massive, fat, woolly fuzz.

to lose weight: cardio AND weightlifting

That's what I'm actually doing. My exercises are usually cardio-based, interspersed with heavy free weights. One thing I have noticed is that I can now do almost all my routines (apart from side laterals and front raises) with the full weights I have. I think they're about 6kg each. That doesn't sound like a lot, but at first I only do 4kg, so I'm getting stronger even if I'm not looking it.

this may be a really stupid question, but i'm pretty sure everyone would be able to answer it for me...

I have a Rocker 30 which has 1x12 V30 in it. If i get a Laney GH100 head, and basically unplug my Rocker 30 from its speaker and pplug the GH100 in...will that be too much wattage for the 1 speaker? assuming that while i have it plugged into that 1 speaker the master volume will be really...really low.

It's really not going to be ideal. If you play the amp at even half volume there is a chance you'll damage the speaker. It'll definitely distort, which is not something everyone likes. It adds a raspiness to it that you can't dial out no matter how much treble and presence you cut. V30's are generally raspy by nature anyway.

Hmmmmmm had an interesting conversation this morning with an old band mate...... Seems there may be some unreleased Ancient Astronaught tracks making their way to the surface. I am actually excite.

Welp, got some time with the Hovercraft last night and HOLY FUCK IT RULES!

Just huge sounding, tons of gain on tap with more bass than I'd ever need. Stunned by how loud and no nonsense it sounds for a little 20W guy. Didn't spend much time messing with pedals, amp sounds fantastic on it's own, that old school Model T in the early gain stages and converting to a more vintage Orange OR/Matamp flavor when you start piling on the gain, just a thick almost fuzzy tone going on.

I did however molest it with a Black Forest and Hoof and it sounded like thunder of the gods was going off late night in my basement jam spot. I had to turn down or risk waking the family and listening to my girl bitch so I did the right thing. Excited to really get it cooking today at the buddy's jam spot where anything goes as far as late night volume.

Needless to say, I'm sold on the sonics of Hovercraft. These amps sound incredible and priced between $550-$625, hard to pass up.

Mine is very similar to fallen's I believe, only with the addition of a FAC switch a brushed aluminum faceplate as opposed to white.








Speaking of Black Forests, I'm selling my original now that I have a sick fucking etched version coming this week. If anyone is interested, I'll go $110 Paypal'd and shipped in the CONUS. It's in excellent shape and functions flawlessly. Lemme know.

I can attest to the glory of Delta Pro 12's, they rule. Like Ancient said, no discoloration or roll off, and definitely can be used for both guitar and bass. Compared to my Delta 12LFC the 12LFC is waaaay darker and has a lot more high frequency roll off, but both are loud as hell for sure

If I was you, I'd go ahead and find a Gibson before dumping too much cash into an Epi. However, if it plays well and you truly love it, could be a really tough call. You'll have to search long and hard to find a solid Gibson as well. I've learned that one the hard way, just because it says Gibson on the headstock does not ensure amazing playability and build quality. Not even close most the time...

I had to search almost 2 years to find my LP Custom, compared sooooooooo many and found that for the money, only the Historics or a nice used model were even worth a shit. I had the help of my GC buddy to get a buncha guitars in my hands tho and get a fat chunk of cash discounted off the '68RI I finally settled on in the end.

Here's the real kicker. Unless you luck into the exact configuration you're after, may still need to swap some expensive parts. I had to replace most of the electronics and hardware to get it how I wanted, wasn't digging the stock '57 Classics or the shitty ABR-1 bridge so I started there. Some of the decisions were aesthetically based but most were pure function. Pickups, pots, caps, 3-way toggle, tuner buttons, knobs, bridge, tailpiece, all of it was swapped. The guitar plays so well and is incredibly stable, setup rarely needs any tweaking. I also love how it looks. I figured those were the important aspects, very hard to alter. Electronics and hardware were all secondary in my search, easily changed if you don't mind dumping a little more cash into 'em....

May as well post mine again. This is it after several years of upgrading/customizing. Def worth it for your #1 or #2 guitar imo. I'll never let this one go now that I've put so much time and effort and $$ into making it perfect for me.
