that album is INSANELY good too..
I just think ATMA has the best sound they've had yet. Guitar tone, bass tone, Mike's vocals, drums. I love every aspect of that album.

Can't do demos quite yet. I haven't the money to invest in recording gear. I spend it all on pedals. I'll do a proper review though next week when it arrives.

I hate buying things on Friday. You have to wait extra.

All good man, I'll be very interested in hearing what you think about it, especially in regards to how easy it is to tap in the diferent commands. I would want it or live applications and need it to be somewhat intuitive.

Actually I think it moves slower than when it was on HC. Less posts per page makes it seem faster.

Drummer search continues, we've met a couple dudes that are about it, and a few that are soso (zoso?) a few more lined up and then we'll see who sticks around and digs it. I'm really pleasantly surprised with how many dudes responded and want to do it. Might work out well. Still sucks that Zak is leaving. We definitely had a good chemistry going on there. Looking forward to where the next drummer takes us though. This is gonna be fun

as far as I know just an idea by some people to bring Yob out later this year, if they can do it, at this point. Some people who won't fuck the whole thing up like Doomnations.

Almost forgot, I'm thinking I need a 3 or 4 channel loop control box. anybody sell a kit for this? or should I just do it the hard way and try to source all the stuff? enclosure, switches etc.

i use flats: 72, 56, 45, 35, 26, 17

personally haven't tried them and play bass a lot more then guitar nowadays...
but the two guitarists I jam with use these and love them. We played in Drop A for the first release, we all mutually think it's too low for the stuff we're going to be working on next. These worked/sounded great, they set up their guitars in drop A and put these on... no more weird wobbly-ness that comes with being in a low tuning.

well, for me this is the only album i have, but on the 3rd run of it since i bought it and its getting better. I just need this to go through my stereo on the weekend, i dont think headphones do it any justice!

the thing i like about it the most (apart from the musical side) the songs dont sound refined and over produced, they sound raw and real...love that!

Spewking of the EL CAP, I cant figure out if i like it in my effects loop or in front. It seems way more powerful up front, but in the loop its softer and dreamier kind of. Where do you put yours?

I ran it both ways, and my recommendation for placement would have alot to do with your FX loop. I found it sounded great as far as really clear and audible repeats out in front of a high headroom clean amp, but it was missing some of the delicacies that make it so tasty. I found those delicacies returned when used in the loop but I also had to turn the mix level up to bring out the same volume and clarity of the repeats. Honestly in a band context out in front probably would be better, in the studio or jamming by yourself I'd put it in the loop.

just had a look at these...looks good, but the low sting is capped at only 56.

edit: you have to choose baritone to get the bigger strings.

Ah, Yeah, sorry. I play a baritone, So i am always getting from that section. I do know that the 70s are too big for my ESP tuning pegs, so i have to either get new tuning pegs or a lighter gauge for that guitar. But seriously, like 4 bucks a pack? not bad. They do just come bundled by string though, so you have to spend some time separating them into sets for yourself if you roll like that. I used ziplocks. But still way worth it for me. They have last a good long time and still hold their tuning, i haven;t broken one yet (i don;t break strings that often any more.) and i only replaced my first set because i put new strings on to record.

No worries, man. I imagine the learning curve won't be too steep. The trick will likely be muscle memory rather than anything else, which is easy to develop and maintain compared to some other loopers out there.

I have them currently on my Ibanez Artist and they're very good. Tight and thick.

it's basically just an overdub pedal, no fancy shit. i've been looking at something like that for quite a while now, i even talked to some builders about it, but nothing came up.

this is a really cool idea, i think this pedal is going on to sell like hot tarts for real. i will be getting one for sure.

Yeah, pretty much this. It's not really designed for anyone other than guitarists. I've bought it to use as a practise tool and to create basic layers. The infinite overdub feature is a great selling point, as I can finally work on layering sounds like I used to when composing on computer software.

Also just gave Atma a spin (finally). I was pleasantly surprised at hearing Mr. Kelly make an appearance there. That guy is great, he can show up on anyone's album and it sounds awesome. (Point in case: Spectrelight is the only good song off the new Mastodon.)
And yes, this thread moves stupid fast. For a thread about some of the slowest music on the planet. Certainly shakin down the stereotypes about stoner/doom (which I'm over).

The Hunter was the biggest disappointment in years. What a disaster of an album. Still one of my favourite bands though.
