Is it just me or would this possibly be cool to use for effects you don't use often or want to try out before spending cash on a "good" pedal. :idk:

kindof, single stomp size makes it pretty sweet for stuff like that
usually I end up using my Me30 to try out different effects

Bought a new amp. Had my eye on these awhile now, each one is spec'd slightly different, $625 shipped. Just got the fatty tax return, finally said fuck it.

Hovercraft Dwarvenaut 20W. 2xEL84, sounds thick as shit, described as a Sunn Model T hi gain circuit mashed with some Matamp for good measure. This particular build is closest to the one featured in youtube demo below but has an added FAC control for more flexibility. Controls on the front include gain/bass/mid/treble/master/HF drive.

Can't wait to check this one out!

Me too man. He said it's probably the loudest and meanest of the bunch so I've got some high hopes for this one.

Thanks Robin! What happened to the Bugera? Damage so severe it's not even worth repairing? And yeah, Divided by 13 makes some killer stuff! We have a local dealer in town so I've tried a few but never had a chance to run one with my own guitar/pedals/etc.

I've been busy compiling a solid collection of lower wattage stuff lately cuz it gets more use but I'm guessing this 20W Hovercraft is gonna be a LOUD 20W. Hard to pass up a good sounding amp for around $600ish, don't have to put as much logical thought into that purchase. Add in the tax refund and you have the perfect situation for impulse buying haha.

I think I'll be happy with this one though. I've never heard a 20 watter sound as thick/mean/unique as those little Hovercrafts. I like the look of this one with the brushed aluminum faceplate and those huge vintage radio knobs. A lot of the earlier Hovercraft stuff had some real cosmetic issues going on, mainly with the Tolex. This one looks to be done up proper.

What's the 1960 like sound-wise? I know Bugera break down like nobodies business, but I hear they sound good. I've tried some of the early models like the 333.

It died in The Studio last Summer. Stopped working without any signs... I had a 3 Year warranty and got The money back After one Year playing that amp. Bugera was unable to repair it though.
The 1960 sounds like a 1959 with less bass and better Volume adjustment. I liked it.

Interesting, regardless of other models, I haven't heard many reports of the 1960 breaking. I bought mine used in January of last year and have been gigging with it and practicing a ton, and haven't had any issues with it yet.

As for how it sounds, it really does nail that plexi sound pretty closely. I don't know about less bass per se, I kinda think of it that it has a more defined top end. It certainly has enough bass for me, and I'm using it as my main bass amp. :idk:
