these are my cousin Doug's cats who live here. this is Happy:

and this is Missy, also known affectionately as The Bowling Ball:

Doug and Happy have these adorable singing bouts where she'll meow at him and he'll meow back mimicking her pitch; they'll go back and forth for a minute or to. she and Missy--"The Girls" as i call them--are always a tad glum when Doug's not here (he does contract work out of town and is sometimes gone for a week or more at a time). they make with the silly on occasion as well, though:

thank you. she's also incredibly sweet...whenever she has the opportunity she climbs into my lap and purrs, whether i'm on the computer, watching the telly, or working on the pedalboard. it'll be interesting trying to practice/record with her around, because i don't shut the door on my kitties unless i have to.

my favorite thing was a few days ago, when i was laying in bed watching TV and Lulu came in, laid down on the pillows next to me, put her head on my shoulder, and went to sleep with her head so close to me that i could hear the quiet little rasp as the breath went in and out her nostrils. I MELTED.
