THere is a switch on the back that takes it from meshuggah to fat sloppy doom. My buddy has one and it made a world of difference.

Anyone in here that stacks muff/rat together I got the big muff finally and well uh. It sounds super scratchy and nasally. Hell this muff sounds really nasal in general, my old musket when I had one was the exact opposite just fat and smooth.

AngryGoldfish wrote:As far as the Orange Rockerverb 50, I'd say avoid it unless you've already played one and really dig it. It's not the right sound and feel for Doom and Stoner, IMO. It works, but it's too aggressive and tight. It's Oranges way of tapping into the modern market. I mean, Slipknot use them. Bands like Baroness and Converge also use them, but they have a very different guitar sound and vibe to the traditional Sludge music we're used to. As well, I found the Rockerverb to be quite finicky. It's not a refined machine with a balanced EQ response and gain structure. There are huge leaps in gain depending on where you have the knobs at, which makes for cumbersome tweaking sessions. The reverb is also a little bit crazy. That's just my 2c. I was very disappointed with the amp when I tried it. I was hoping for a higher gain version of a Matamp, but it's nothing like a GT120 or a GT1.

Well, i'm currently playing through an ENGL Screamer which is more Marshally voiced and is pretty tightly voiced. But I've noticed that a LPB-1 just loosens up everything gives it a fuzzier Doom sound, like an antitubescreamer. To be honest, I haven't been playing a whole lot of Stoner/Sludgey stuff but instead i've been playing a but of Blackgazey, Gothic Doom.

And yes, I would love a Dunwich

I've played an ENGL Screamer combo and liked it. It's like a drier Marshall 800. Gothic Doom is not really something I'm too familiar with, tbh, but I imagine something like a Rockerverb would be fine for the job. If you're in the States, however, look into a Soldano Avenger, or even a Dual Rectifier. They all have that dark gloominess, but with gobs of gain and sustain. I always associate Doom with sustain, no matter what kind of Doom it is, so a big power section tuned in the right way (Soldano Avenger or Diezel Herbert's are good examples) can work with aplomb. But I would definitely not buy something like that without trying one out beforehand.

Hmmm... I've never seen that before. What does it do to the amp, do you know?

I've never heard of a nasally Big Muff.

Now I figure it out, the filter of the rat and tone of the muff was seemingly interacting weirdly where the trashiness of the rat was seemingly overpowering the bass of the muff or something weird. Just gotta fuck around with the eq/gain/level till they sit together well.

that show is here on sunday and i'm really excited. however, why is no one mentioning enslaved? i'm most excited about them, although pallbearer is pretty close. but they're the headliner of the tour and such an awesome band. weird that no one here seems to care that much.

I just don't really care for Enslaved. Don't dislike 'em, they have a few songs that rule (they're playing Isa on this tour!), but just never really did it for me. They also play for what feels like an eternity, and I just don't want to see (almost) any band play for over an hour.

Also, Graveyard KILLED last night. Shit yeah. Now, OM on Wednesday, Neurosis on Saturday, and Samothrace the following week. YES.
KHEMMIS. Doomed heavy metal. DECEIVER out 11/19/21 on Nuclear Blast.

GLACIAL TOMB. Misanthropic death/black/sludge. S/t debut out now on Gilead Media.

Good deals with: Ancient Astronaught, conky, crohny, D-Day, Corey Y, ryan summit, tons more here and on HCFX under this username

You try swapping them around in the chain yet? Simple thing but might make a big difference.

have you got the rat before the muff or muff before the rat?

i have a You Dirty Rat before my Bass Big Muff...and that works really well.

I usually prefer fuzz into overdrive.

Mark sent a pic today of my custom BAT build, a Badascan of sorts. Sent the graphic I wanted to DannDubbleEwe here at ILF and he etched that sexy ass enclosure. This and a Destroyer should be here in my hands any day now...

yeah, thats kinda a combo thats hard to make work.

can def work well

I'm currently running Elements > Pharoah > Destroyer. So its kinda od/distortion first, fuzz, fuzz, boost. I am loving this.

In other news, we sold one of the Sunn bass amps and My gear fund is looking better. But...
There's a peavy roadmaster on cl. Asking price is $300. I'm thinking with 6x6l6gc's and 4x12ax7's in the pre, NMV and no extra crap, that ought to sound pretty fucking good. I've never played with one though and don't know what these tend to go for. What say you Doom Rooomers? WHAT SAY YOU!

I actually have three etched BAT pedals, got this Revelation SuperBass a couple weeks ago too.

Thanks man. There's some guys around here that have the etching thing all figured out. Beyond DanDubbleEwe who did those two, there's jwar who's responsible for the Destroyer. Also LaoWiz who makes some of the sickest enclosures I've seen, kind of a Death By Audio crossed with vintage EHX vibe, all etched with colors and such. So good!
