Out of all the instruments, why do you play the one you do?

I was 16 and my buddy gave me a guitar with 2 strings on it, i started playing it fingerstyle like a bass. A few months later I bought an actual bass and never looked back.

When I turned 18, I wanted a Moog or Sequential Circuits synthesizer. Unfortunately, in 1997, there was nothing in production that sounded like it, laptops weren't musical instruments, and the vintage ones were already collectible. My buddy Nick had an electric guitar and a bunch of Electro-Harmonix pedals. His Micro-Synth was as close to a Moog as I thought I would ever get. If someone showed up at my front door with an analog synth and a sweet amp, I'd likely trade them all my guitar stuff for it with a smile.

I did play drums, but I sucked at that worse than I do at guitar.

I play theremin because I never got around to quitting.

I started playing guitar when I was sixteen. A dear family friend of mine bequeathed his ancient stratocaster to me on his deathbed. I felt like I had to play, to honor him. Now I don't wanna do anything else (even though I'm pretty sloppy). I started off emulating my heroes by learning t.rex and iggy songs. Then I discovered Siamese dream and loveless, which led me to buy my first big muff and delay pedal...I like guitar as a facilitator for odd textures and sounds.

I started playing bass last year so I could play with other people. So far its been an interesting ride...love maki g the walls shake!
