Obituary of the day
William Burroughs would have been 99 yesterday...
This guy put more fuzz in my brain than any stoner/shoegaze band ever did!

Re: Obituary of the day
Because of how young I was, I first learned of Burroughs because of this:

I started reading him in college. Naked Lunch is obviously amazing. The Nova trilogy made my brain hurt, but in a good way.

Oh man, I spent a lot of time dissecting his writing when I was doing the higher education thing. One of the most interesting writers when you compare his early work to the Lunch/Nova/Cut Up stuff.

he said it was ok to try be a human being
while also bein high at the same time
but obviously some times
it dont work out

If I could see a cinematic dream come true it would be a film trilogy of The Western Roads storyline. Some of my favorite storytelling right there.

Re: Obituary of the day
I haven't read Burrough in quite awhile. I started reading the Naked Lunch when I was 12. I was like WTF, but in a good way. Then I read Junky (or Junkie depending on which edition). It didn't glorify shooting dope but I was fascinated. My copy also had a Drug dictionary/encyclopedia at the end. I tried mixing nutmeg in water after that because sailors stuck at sea did that to get a buzz. Not sure if it worked.
Anyways, I pretended I was character in his tales as I shot the sweet nectar that ruined my life for awhile. Wasn't his fault or anything, it was my fantasy.
Anyways, I miss you Uncle Bill.
Oh yeah, his acting in the Ministry video "Just One Fix" is great!

Oh yes!
He worked with Throbbing Gristle, which ones used the cut up style in their songs, this is truly amazing!

Re: Obituary of the day
this thread is giving me major wood
now were opening it up to ministry
AND throbbing gristle
this could go so many awesome directions
and id love to have coffee with you dellta, someday
pick your brain about living in this world
some entrance into ilf methadrone
(i just typed methatone by accident)
bravo bud
my folks sent me cities of the red night(western roads pt1?)
while i was away in a rehab/tc in maine at 16
its funny
they lock me up
and then send me a book about junk
and sailing and buttfucking
"the smell of anal seepage"
junky was also in the library there
i got more emotional help from those books
than i did from any councelor or encounter group(google that)
