Iron Fuzz: Round 2

Post by mathias »

Blank screen. A quote is displayed:

“i don't like people with "talent" and "skills" that don't feel the need to cover their inadequacies under good time happy sounds.” - The Philosopher Behndy

A drumroll. Fuzz Stadium is shown. Hundreds of roadies in trademark black metal band tshirt are at the ready.

Announcer:
It was only a short one month ago that one man’s fantasy became reality. Taking shape like no one had seen before. Fuzz Stadium, a giant recording arena. The motivation for creating this stadium was to encounter new, original sounds, which could be called true artistic creations.

Cut to the Chairman not taking a bite out of anything, because he's straight pedge. Duh.

Chairman:
ALLEZ FUZZ

Chairman:
The season is dark and wintery, which calls for something light and fun. For this month, we have wracked our brains to find a song which should test the creativity and meddle of those who choose to cover it. Something that will cause you to stretch. The song is:
Taio Cruz - Dynamite

And for our challengers, we of course need a secret ingredient!

A pedestal rises from the stage featuring a Line6 DL4 and a Akai Headrush placed on top of a bunch of ice for freshness.

Chairman:
Lately, I have seen an energy and frenzy around live looping. Reggie Watts, Andrew Bird, Zoe Keating.. the list of musicians using live looping in their work right now grows. So it is time for looping to visit our Fuzz Stadium.

The cry of “changing the Fuzz guard” is becoming true! So I wish to test your true strength!

Announcer: Dynamite and looping! The Chairman has set out to challenge you this month with a peculiar challenge! Will you accept?

The rules again, to reiterate:
  • You have one month to record a cover of the song.
  • You must use the secret ingredient in whatever form you choose.
  • Post a video or audio file to this thread when you are done, and as a Fuzz chef, provide a little description for the judges of your efforts.

I appear with my Line 6 M9 and beat the DL4 into little tiny pieces, yelling "I HAVE MOAR FOOTSWITCHES"

But this will be hilarious.

This one, I will be taking a crack at. I don't know the song, but I feel like being unfamiliar with it will help in getting an interesting interpretation.

Also posted this to the Round 1 thread, but wanted to make sure people saw it:
The website is live at http://iron-fuzz.com/

Let me know what you think! I'm compiling the judges notes right now and uploading them at the bottom as I finish them.

Not sure if I'll be able to get in on this one, especially because I have zero live looping skillz, but I'm eagerly looking forward to hearing the results!

I was planning on participating this month, but this feels like a much harder challenge than last months. Maybe I'll give it a go, though, if I find the time.
