Triplebucker Halp...

Post by sonidero »

Sooo, I have Toms ol Triplebucker and I wanna throw it in my Cyclone... I'm gonna keep the tree way selector and the neck pickup as is for now... I just wanna replace the humbucker that was in there with the Triplebucker... I already took it all apart and the Triple fits fine but before I cut the wires I wanna make sure I know whats the what... Here is the Triple wiring...

Image

The Black and White are soldered together, and the Red and Brown seem to be one pair and the Blue and Green another pair plus the ground... The Humbucker that's in the Cyclone has a single wire coming out that is just a White and a ground... The White is attached to the rear position of the pickup selector and the ground is in the middle... Assuming that I just remove those two and take the Humbucker out which wires would I connect from the Triplebucker to the selector??? I'm not worried about splitting for now, I just wanna put it in the Cyclone and RAWK OUT...

Any help would be appreciated... :hello:

I think I am on to something. Its from a Fender Marauder right?

So if it is a Marauder pickup, judging by the text on the pup, then you will want to go with leaving the white and black soldered together. Solder both the red and brown on to the bridge lug on the switch. Green, blue, and the bare braided wire will be ground. This will give you all three coils on. Two coils will be in series (standard humbucking configuration) with the third coil in parallel, giving it some more top end. For your reference look at this PDF this dude made on the Marauder Wiring Layout.

Here is a vid of the guitar in question for sound comparison. Position 2 is what you should get when you are done.

Profit?

OH YES YES YES... Thanks a lot man that PDF is killer... So the black and white just stay soldered together and hang out in perfect harmony... I'll do this tomorrow night and report back... It's the Triplebucker from Toms Marauder... I might replace the neck pickup from the Cyclone with one I have from a Squier Strat that seems way beefier...

I always wondered what the Cyclone sounded like with more brutal pickups in it. I bet its going to be the tits! Oh yeah side note, I would through some electrical tape on the white and black wire soldered joint. Don't want it feeling around on the other connections.
