looks like you got cold solder joints on top of the PCB a the pot connection as well Joel. definitely reheat every joint so that that solder flows and fills in, ont he jack lugs as well.

OK I've heated all the joints, tried to make sure the solder fills the holes and that and plugged it in and something quite strange happens; if I put my thumb on both the 'in' and 'out' joints on the board signal comes through but if I let go no signal comes through, is this a grounding issue?

.... only if you have one thumb on each? what about just one? im not sure how to explain that, try touching those joints witht he soldering iron again?

If I remember properly with only one thumb the signal still comes through but very weak, both thumbs the signal is much stronger. I will have another crack at it with the iron.

Re: FuzzKit Pre-Orders and Instructions Thread!
OK so I decided to just go ahead and build the new kit I got with my Mini Wolf CPu (thanks heaps Eric!) I was way more careful and made sure I soldered properly and it works! I did make one mistake and put r1 and r2 in the reversed places but it still works and I don't think I can get them out now but I'm just happy it works!
Not sure what to house it in yet, I'll probably want to put a switch in but that will wait for another day. So stoked I built it right this time!

I just need to get some fucking PNP blue, figure out what bit i should use on my drill, and figure out how to pop a footswitch in and it will be set to go.
that'll probably take another month, DAMN MY BUSY ASS SCHEDULE

I've got a fuzzbox and i'm not afraid to use it

I built it into a tobacco tin, and it works perfectly. I dig it a lot. Even though it's an Electra Distortion circuit, it's pretty much got Mellowtone written all over it. Thanks, Eric.
P.S.
On the first page where there's directions, I think when you're soldering the Stereo Input jack, you wrote to solder one of the lugs to the OUT on the PCB. Didn't you mean IN? Maybe I'm just all whacked from solder fumes but the kit works, so..
Just a heads up.

im out of kits, but a great first kit might be a LPB-1 or Stratoblaster booster from generalguitargadgets.com

Re: FuzzKit Pre-Orders and Instructions Thread!
hey there!
finally got around to putting together my fuzzkit!

well me and my two boys anyway, they helped me decipher the resistorss/diodes, and did most of the soldering.
hooked it up to an amp, plugged in my guitar... nothing... I could hear humming.
I had socketed the tranny so I flipped it around... now I could hear something but it didn't sound right.
Then I realized I had the amp/guitar plugged in backwards into the fuzz.
Switched that around, it sounded better but still not right... flipped the tranny back around and bingo! Wow, this thing sounds cool as hell. Cleans up nice, has a lot of fuzz. Me likey! I think I might mount it inside the LP that I'm building.
any tips on how to install a pot where you mentioned about the 680 ohm resistor to change the gain?
and maybe one where the bias resistor is?
Do I put the resistor on one side of the pot and the other side to ground?
either way it sounds great and mellowtone should def. think about doing another batch!!!

Re: FuzzKit Pre-Orders and Instructions Thread!
This might sound quite noob as it's my first post here (BTW, hello everyone
), but... where do you get those PCBs? They look sweeet and I've always build my DIY pedals on veroboard, so I don't know where to look to send a PCB design and have it done. Or maybe you do them youself, in that case... well, I'll better learn to do it
