Instead, I ask how can anyone not like Electric Wizard? But then such questions lead to why do people like idol-pop and if you try to understand that you will get an aneurysm.Helter wrote:I see electric wizard get mentioned often on here, but usually only after someone mentions fz-2.
Any fans of them?
I personally love them, they got me into doom after hearing dopethrone so I'll forever be in their debt and they will always hold a special place in my doomy taste.

Hey guys, made an account over here too since the other room was falling apart. My band had our second show this past saturday and it went well. You can check out our last song here: http://youtu.be/el9p3EokaSY. Not very doomy but you get to see/hera my super bass build into my new sunn 4x12 which is kinda doomy. Sorry for the audio on the video, the high end kinda over powers the mic built into the camera but it turned out alight for it being just the little flip cam.

Never tried a FZ-2 but I've honestly never been much of a Super Fuzz type dude. I'm not much for the square wave clippingHelter wrote:I see electric wizard get mentioned often on here, but usually only after someone mentions fz-2.

I dig Electric Wizard though. Their earlier stuff is great and doomy. I remember many car rides spent listening to We Live. I saw them at Deathfest though and I don't think it translated very well.
I also fucking LOVE Ramesses. Their first album was SO heavy.
I CANNOT STOP LISTENING TO YOB WHEN I ACTUALLY LISTEN TO MUSIC. SO. GOOD.object88 wrote:Yob has been rocking my doomsocks. (Perfectly safe for work, unless you work involves not rocking out.)
NSFW: show
On an unrelated note, I got my Sovtek Muff back today and goddamn I'm so excited to have it back. Nothing sounded right without it.

Cracks me up when he takes his little hippie-like bow at the end of a show. Because, you know, he just sonically obliterated a hundred people.gunslinger_burrito wrote:Mike Scheidt is like the John Lennon of metal. Super cool dude.

I saw Dark Castle when they opened for YOB, the first time I saw YOB... All I wanted Stevie to do was turn the flange/chorus off. It was so deep man.... And 100% wet chorus too. Fuck the songs were so good other than the chorus/flange use.gunslinger_burrito wrote:Has anyone mentioned Dark Castle yet? One of the nicest dudes ever. Crazy humble, totally into giving hugs over handshakes. Hands-down one of my favorite people I've ever met playing/booking/going to metal shows.gunslinger_burrito wrote:Mike Scheidt is like the John Lennon of metal. Super cool dude.

Yeah, she's crazy about those, if you haven't listened to her new project Taurus....
I missed them on the Yob tour, and I'm STILL mad at myself for it. When I saw them they played mostly older stuff, which was less flange/chorus saturated.
Saw Yob about this time last year though. I missed their return to my neck of the woods last fall because I was in Seattle seeing Old Man Gloom
Not always "doomy" but this is pretty fucking doomy if you ask me.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
I need an education. There's one Ramesses song, Witchampton from their We Will Lead You To Glorious Times album, that plays on my Pandora station. I dig it, but I haven't heard what else they do. Is that song roughly in line with the rest of their material?skullservant wrote:I also fucking LOVE Ramesses. Their first album was SO heavy.

I had heard some Isis material, but that was the closest I got to OMG before seeing them live -- a gambit well worth it. Great show.gunslinger_burrito wrote:... because I was in Seattle seeing Old Man Gloom
