Looking into a Yamaha Rydeen set, since they go so cheap used, and honestly sound so good. I've seen them go for $400 and under, so I don't think I can do much better than that on a budget.
Still trying to figure out cymbals. Wish I had the cash for some nice Paiste stuff, but oh well.

The zildian zbt series are dirt cheap and honestly sound really good. That being said, I've never really used high end cymbals but still, I would recommend them.

Oh god no. Not to get all elitist up in here, but in my many years of drumming, ZBT's are by far the worst sounding cymbals I've ever heard/played (except for some Wuhan shit, but even those are great for stacks).
To be honest, cymbals are the one facet of drumming that I'd recommend investing in, because if you take care of your cymbals and use the proper technique when mounting and playing the cymbals (i.e., not too tight and swipe not strike), they can last you a very long time. Moreover, although there is a huge price differential between the lower and upper echelon of cymbals, it isn't impossible to find good deals (especially if you have a good local dealer).
There are also many smaller brands that make quality cymbals too, for a much lower price, as well as a strong online B/S/T drum community (which is safe as long as the person has pictures of the edges (to check for deformities/cracks), the mounting hole (to check for keyholing), and the body (to check for cracks).

ya know,
even though I have the particle and the boss ps3 which both can do rainbow machine type sounds...
I fucking still want one.
I also want so many other things. Monitors. Pedals. Guitars.
I literally smoke and watch demos in all my spare time. I try to make music sometimes too.

I seen a video that made me chuckle, apologizes if it's been posted before.
Im guilty of saying a few of these...
