i'm reading Beggars From Spain, a sorta mild cyberpunk thing? 20 Minutes Into The Future they've developed a gene-mod that removes the need to sleep. The Sleepless grow up more intelligent, more even keeled emotionally, and just BETTER people then Sleepers. and become the new hated subset of humanity. has a version of Objectivism (i think, my political knowledge is SPARSE) intertwined. pretty interesting.

and since i sleep about 2-3 hours a night on average it's an idea i feel a closeness to.

I believe, but it's the same book regardless.

It's 100% Swedish duderz.

I have no idea why they called it Let Me In - let the right one in is the correct translation, and it works (I think) better in the context of the story as well. But they're the same as Dark Barn said.

John Ajvide Lindqvist is a great author - dunno how much has been translated to English but all of his books are worth reading. Handling of the Undead is really good. And melancholy. And good.

just got done with the Beggars thing. i think it was an omnibus download? it was originally just the novella that was released in 1993, this edition had 5 books. was pretty good. i liked the first one a lot, the rest were either good or sorta meh but had good parts. i dunno if any of the science holds up, everything i've read about prolonged sleep deprivation talked about how people get less aware and more insane, but in the framework of the book's mythologies it was a fun read with some interesting points. a lot with how much people have to do to be considered a useful part of a community and where our responsibilities end with people that don't give back, just take. i lahkeded it.

just started Peter Hamilton's Pandora's Star. i've never read any of his, my little brother has been telling me for years i would like it a lot.

but then in the car this morning as i was about to dl it he said, "well. maybe you'll like it. you are YOU.". apparently he thinks if somebody else introduces me to something then i won't like even if it's good. because i don't get the hipster cred for being the one to find it. SILLY.

Homeland and the other books at the beginning of the Drizzt series were the best.

All those Robert Jordan books are A) outrageously intoxicating and B) goofy as hell.

Good choice.

How Music Works? I've only read a little of it but it seems very informative. I gave away two copies as Christmas gifts, gotta borrow one back sometime. The cover itself is super cool, too.
