Bass DI for live shows
Ok so let me explain myself, I have no bass gear and am trying to dive into the world of bass equipment and am taking on a bit of water. I am starting to record my own music and about to start adding bass gear to my collection of musical wonders. I also have some friends in need of a bass player, and luckily for me not a very talented one. What i am thinking of is getting this squier http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/JagBsVMHBLK and a tech 21 bddi or maybe the vt. This way i dont have to deal with the cost of a bass amp and just go direct. But my real question is which of these tech 21 products would be best for my needs and also if I went with the vt could I use my audio interfaces highz to output to the pa?
Now im starting to think this might have gone better in gear, so feel free to sugest other intro basses to me.

I used mine as a straight DI the other week when the bass amp I was using (interstate show) crapped out. Backed very, very highly.

I'm sorry, I am unsure about which device you are talking about.dase wrote:I used mine as a straight DI the other week when the bass amp I was using (interstate show) crapped out. Backed very, very highly.

The Rusty Box! It's a champ. It's got a 1/4" output that can be sent straight to the soundboard to DI with!

I am too weak a man to handle a landmine as my DI.

The Rusty Box comes highly recommended, though I have never used one.

It really depends on the sound you want. The Rusty Box will serve you well if that's the sound you're looking for. Personally, I use the Aguilar Tone Hammer; 3 band eq (with mid freq adjustment - VERY helpful), overdrive, separate volume for both wet and dry signal, and a solid DI.
Either of those options I think will serve you better in the long run than the Tech 21 stuff.

Yeah, I've long lusted after the Rusty Box. Missed out on one on b/s/t to my great consternation. Alas.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.
