You know if those necks will fit on a strat body? And I assume the two extra holes were just drilled....etc?MEC wrote:It's a 30" scale using a Tele body with a Dano Longhorn Bass neck.

The Danelectro necks have screw on nuts the Longhorn neck comes with one preslotted for 4 string Bass.foomanfat wrote:So, does a regular guitar nut fit on those Longhorn necks?
You can flip that over and cut it for guitar or get a Danelectro Guitar Nut and it will screw right on to the Bass Neck.
You'll just need to widen the slots to fit the strings you are using.
You need the guitar to be a 25.5 scale 21 fret.gunslinger_burrito wrote:You know if those necks will fit on a strat body?
Teles work best because Teles and Danos both have a square neck end where a Strat is rounded.
You "might" need to widen the neck pocket a bit or shave down the neck to fit in the Tele pocket.
I chose to shave down the neck so if I decided to convert it back to a regular Tele, I could easily swap necks.
Also, you won't have to do any modification to the bridge saddles if you use a Tele 3 saddle bridge.
The Strat bridge could be a pain.
Using the Tele is more about ease than heavy modding.
Yup, the neck comes with 4 tuner holes but they are spaced perfect for you to just drill 2 more between them.gunslinger_burrito wrote: And I assume the two extra holes were just drilled....etc?
Here are the Neck, Nut and Strings you'll need.
You also need 2 more tuning knobs (PM me and I'll send you some matching ones) or you can just replace them all with a new set.
With a few basic tools you can have a Tele converted to a VI in a couple hours.

Well... I'd rule if I wasn't letting the fact I keep forgetting to buy something to make a nut out of for it hold the whole thing up... can't get the dano nuts no more..

Re: Anyone set up a guitar for stupid-low tunings?
While it's a bit off topic, I'm actually considering tuning the SG that I've been playing to Nashville, which is actually an octave up on every string but the high E. I figure it'd be interesting to mess around with, because a set of 12 string electric strings are only $10, and I can just swap them for standards if I don't like it.
On topic, if that bass that I have sitting around doesn't get traded, I might bastardize a couple junky instruments to make a Bass VI after reading all this.

The deal is with a dano 30" bass/baritone neck you can do this to any body made to work with a 25.5 scale 21 fret neckgunslinger_burrito wrote:Ohhhhhhhhhh shit!!!!!
