First Guitar Build: Silvertone 63

Post by tuffteef »

So i recently grabbed a silvertone 63 super cheap a month ago and loved it but the neck is borked beyond belief and to fix it was way too expensive so i ended up selling it
but i loved the guitar that maybe down the track id have a go at building a solid body version and changing a few bits and bobs on it (Different bridge, Tv Jones).
I dont wanna have a go at building a neck from scratch quite yet so maybe using a commercial neck such as a tele from all parts or something with the body.

So what i want to know is while i have the guitar what should i note down in terms of measurements to help me down the track.
I took a trace of the body and pickguard so far, It has a super long and thin heel compared to a tele pocket

any help and tips?

You should look at the Subway Guitars website.

He's well known for building frankenguitars out of old parts. It's too bad you sold the SIlvertone, he may've had a spare neck to sell you for it.
