kidney stone

Post by spacefuzz »

I woke up at 4 am with the most insane pain I have ever felt. I went to the ER. Turns out I have a kidney stone. They gave me some drugs and said that it should pass anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks. I am on pain med right now, so I am feeling ok, but this sucks so fucking hard. They compare it to child birth. My side hurts so fucking bad. Has anyone had this happen to them? :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Never had them myself, but I've known a few people who did. It sounds like one of the worst problems you can get. And there's really nothing you can do for it.
Feel better, dude. Take it easy and remember to take your daily dose of fuzz in the meantime.

Doctors said that I had a pretty tiny stone once, I was lucky that my body wasn't aching and I wasn't in severe pain. I got rid of it after a night of drinking at like 2 am. I didn't sleep that night after that though, but I instantly felt better ran to the Doctors the next morning and they gave me the all clear.

Yup I had one recently. Spent 3 months in pretty much constant discomfort. If it's of any comfort, it seems i managed to pass mine without even noticing. Just drink a shit load CONSTANLY! They're a total bitch though so look after yourself dude.

I was in the E.R. last Saturday with one 5 mm in size, the doctor said it was the cutoff between me passing it and them going in and getting it. Couldn't just blast it being that far from the kidneys or something. I was just praying she'd let me go home and try to pass it instead of shoving something up my urethra. I got lucky. This was my second time in 4 years having to go to the E.R. for them, most of the others in the past have been small enough that I wasn't doubled over in pain. Drink lots and lots of water, they should have given you a sieve to piss in and try to collect the stone so they can analyze it.

Video of it passing.

Too bad you couldn't you couldn't get an ESWL. They only do that in certain cases, though.

I've had two before so I feel your pain. I went to the ER twice. The 1st time I woke up in excruciating pain, had no idea why my side was hurting. The 2nd time I knew what the pain was from but couldn't get any relief from the pain (ended up puking and writhing in pain). The ER ended up giving me morphine (which I liked quite a lot and now I see why people can get addicted to heroin really easily).

You'll notice that the pain sort of moves down your side and back and once it drops into your bladder it's smooth sailing. The opening of your urethra is larger than the tubes that go from your kidneys to your bladder, hence the smooth sailing. You'll hardly notice it when you piss it out; it just feels like a slight pressure build up when peeing mid-stream.

Tips are to drink lots of water and cranberry juice. Also use a heating pad. The heat tends to help open things up. I tend to notice them more in the fall/winter months when the weather is cold. Also the majority of kidney stones are from calcium build up and unless you use the strainer every time you take a piss you might not know when you pass it. Unless you have a macro lens for your camera, pictures or video would be an exercise in futility. :)

Good luck! It took like 2-3 months for me to pass two. I hope yours goes much quicker.

Still in pain. Calling out of work again (second day) I'm drinking 3 glasses of water a hour. The pain was gone yesterday, woke up this morning and my whole side and back are on fire. God damn, when will it end?!!

Time to go back. I'm going in for surgery tomorrow to have the one stuck in my ureter (the 5mm one) removed with some basket procedure and the others in my kidneys are getting some shockwave shit to break them up. And I'm out of painkillers. Fuck.

Ok, on the way to meet my wife, the pain suddenly stopped, then I went to piss in the grocery store bathroom and it was rust colored (blood?). That was 4 hours ago, I still feel fine. Did I pass it and not see it at the store? Also, I am on flomax and having dry spells (I know TMI) I'm throwing that shit away. THIS SUCKS!!!!!
