Trinity are killer. I'd love to pick up one of their kits some time.

Yeah it was a kit from a Canadian company called Trinity; great people there. It was a fun project and I learnt a lot in the process.

Here's a shot of the guts:

My Univox is a UX1501. Apparently entirely different than any other Univox amp made and extremely similar to Sunn Model T specs. I can't speak for any other models, I've heard they are mediocre, but mine is a beast. PTP hand wired in Jersey, USA circa 1971 (same plant Marshall used to import and change specs from euro to u.s.), 140w driven by a quad of GE 6550's and massive huge and heavy transformers. I use it for bass and it knocked my old Sound City 120 out of my rig entirely. The one time I played guitar through it, it was very clean, loud and sparkly with tons of thickness on hand. It does take pedals really well, also. Only thing requiring special attention is impedance load. Any mismatch and it changes the sound/tone and volume entirely. Best I've gotten it to sound since having it has been with an Acoustic 408 4x15 cab. Wish I wouldn't of sold it. Trying to pair it with a flatback SVT now.

Is $350 a good deal on a U1226? No idea what sorta shape it's in,...or if I can swing a deal,...but,...

Seems moderately fair if its working fine. I really don't know of its any good, though. The only model I recommend is the UX1501. I've never heard anything else or played any other model. Go check it out.
