pickguard time ...

these will both get back sprayed with lacquer,
working out the colours with the customers now ...
here's one with some of my reject pile of cast knobs and covers to show the position of the pickups ... loosely based on this older wooden harvester ...

ooh, now that would qualify for a 'so much fun it'll cost you less' deal.
i love danos ... i play my little silvertone amp-in-case ( and my krappy 50's kays ) a lot for my solo gigs lately.
Ok first NEET second..I like dem knobs! where you get dem knobs?
thanks, i make knobs from urethane resin ( or in this case clear epoxy with red dye ) they are cast in a silicone mould taken from some N.O.S. 60's knobs that i got from west florida components :
http://www.westfloridacomponents.com/Knobs.html

i use them with or without the aluminium caps.
Duuuuuude. Clear would be so awesome, to show the metal bridge through neckmy mind is racing
hmmm, yeah, but nah ... not on these ones ... the little silvertone shaped one is going to be an experimental 'black with sparkles' kind of finish and the offset will get a wandre 'smoked' burst and a metallic ( silver ? ) guard i think.
i know it's tempting to show more of that metal neck ... the bass is gonna be no guard and show the thru neck ( a little bit ) like one of these ...

fun fun fun, i haven't touched these metal monsters all week, they're hanging on the wall ( both all bolted together now while we order pickups and paint etc ) i've been working with boring old wooden necks and getting some repairs done.
cheers, AP

Re: Harvester Guitars
i just found this thread. these guitars are right up my alley! i was scanning the website coming up with crazy ideas (like a guitar with the body shape of a Kay K300 i used to own, but with the hatchet headstock), but i would have to save many, many pennies before i could act on them.
i will be bookmarking the website & coming back to this thread!

Re: Harvester Guitars
thanks guys ... that was the first time i used a clear finish to show off beautiful timber - after years of metallic lacquer finishes slathered all over everything in sight.
that's tasmanian blackheart sassafras which i wanted to use for the name alone ...

it's a tree that splits and lets water in to the trunk as it continues to grow - the resultant spalting is incredible - hence the 'black heart'.
i cut 4 bodies in this 'moon' design which is a bit like a tele but more angular and with a deeper cutaway, i have another one here ready for frets.
there's nothing wrong with that sentence ! i have a few K300 basses here, love em.
cheers, AP

Yeah, the more I look at your website, the more I love Harvester Guitars.
You own not one, but two Kay 703 amps?
(Also, now I kinda want to resin cast my own knobs.)
