Definitely a proper run. It did drag on at times during the last few seasons before last, but I blame that on the writers inability to properly balance the drama/laughs and episodic format. They finally figured it out last season and it was great. Left me wanting more which is how a series should end.

Anybody watch Comic Book Men? It's a show about Kevin Smith's comic book shop in Brooklyn and its employees... cool show.

We just got AMC back on Dish Network so I haven't seen any of Comic Book Men season 2. Did they move the shop to Brooklyn? I love Kevin Smith. Way more than anyone rightfully should.

Fun fact - Bryan, the really beardy one on the show is the basis for Randal in Clerks.

Other great news concerning AMC - the wife actually took an interest in Walking Dead, so we are going to start catching up on Netflix. HUZZAH :!!!:

Woops, I meant New Jersey not Brooklyn! Big mistake.. I'll probably get killed over mixing those two places up...

They're 2 episodes into season 2 now, just 20 minutes per episode now, otherwise it's the same. Both Tanya and I like the show a lot even though we're not interested in comics at all.. they're just cool interesting dudes.

Didn't know that about Bryan but it makes perfect sense!

My roomate started watching it on netflix, he is about to open up a game shop (something I use to really be into, as far as Magic the Gathering) I'm also really into comics (not as much now as I use to be ever since ILF has taken over, which is what I prefer now anyways) and they want me to organize their comic portion of the store, but I'm not really interested. Anyways, I have been meaning to check it out. I'm glad it comes with good recommendations.

Yeah, I'm not into comics at all anymore, but I love the atmosphere of a good comic shop. I love that these dudes are on tv these days - I don't remember having dorky people to identify with in a positive way when I was watching tv as a kid.

Good news - watched most of the first episode of Walking Dead with the wife and she's into it!!!!!!!!!!!! She said she likes it in the same way that she liked Lost, which means 'the characters are interesting enough and the suspense is there so I will overlook the weirdness.'

I have really considered adding walking dead back into my rotation, but I have a LOT of shows. For me what killed it was I thought the acting was soap opera level (yes I have watched wayyy more soaps with my mom than I would ever care to admit, but she always got a laugh out of my trolling) also I fizzled out at the season 2 "dry spot" but I may just wait for this season to end and then marathon it, which tends to be what I do with shows anyways.

And I agree, comics, and everything else that was considered geeky is now very mainstream, think of how popular the new star trek flik was even. I can't imagine how bizarre it is going to high school these days, I feel like everyone would be so uniform.

I have controversial opinions about a lot of the popular shows that get talked about it here, usually just keep them to myself, but the Walking Dead lost me in a big way in season 2 and I don't plan on trying it again.

Was the new Star Trek movie pretty popular? You mean the one in 2009 right? Or is there a newer one that I missed?? I really liked the new one but I'm a huge sci-fi guy, love that shit in all its forms. It was a great space sci fi action adventure movie!

I bet high school is like it always was... nerdy stuff is very mainstream these days for sure but so is horror stuff, metal stuff, LGBT stuff, western/cowboy stuff, and comedy. All the cliques are still represented nicely!

Thats how I feel towards The Walking Dead, Ryan.

And yea, I was referring to the 2009 flick. It was the first thing that came to mind as far as HUGE hit geek genre.

I guess as far as the highschool statement, I can see where you're coming from, it just seems like jock/geek/metal head or the cliques I was use to (despite going to a tiny 60 person private highschool) are more blended or blurred.

Think of how popular the geeks and their culture must have been in the late 70s/early 80s when Star Wars came out!

That must have been an interesting high school experience for you... I went to high school with about 1000 kids. Were you at a specialized kinda place like for arts?

I wish, it was just a religious academy. The public schools in my area were pretty rough.

And the lines were already pretty blurred for us. Top student also the star of the baseball team, so many of us playing magic, Star Wars as a cultural imperative.

Last night was the first Thursday night in 6 weeks with no Red Dwarf.. didn't feel very good. Did only Andy and I watch the new season? It was so good! C'mon guys!

We're watching a lot of sitcoms now.. but they aren't as good as Red Dwarf. Well, maybe Always Sunny...

You guys see Looper? Pretty cool movie hey!
