I love that guitar too, the neck plays very good and it sounds great.
Then again, the previous owner dropped some gibson pickups (from an old SG Standard) in it, so that probably helps.

I read some bad things about them too, I ignored it and bought mine anyway.
Maybe I was lucky, but there are definitely good ones out there.

Fender Blacktop Strat. Stock except for some jiggering with the wiring to get the coil split options where I wanted them.

TELEMETAL.

's what I use my Telemaster for. It's so bright but thick since I've got the P90 in the neck so that it sounds good for clean and bold clears but HUGE with fuzz

Tele's are much more versatile than people give them credit for. I've yet to find something mine can't do
