Kansas is more interesting than you'd think:

i'm now at the Super 8 in Abilene. hooray for free wi-fi! tomorrow i'm going to see some of the sights of Abilene: the Eisenhower Museum and Library, some Santa Fe Trail sites, and a scenic drive in the Flint Hills. surprisingly, Kansas is very different to Nebraska; the landscape has a Thomas Hart Benton quality to it, with rolling hills punctuated by small stands of trees in the low spots. i really enjoyed the drive over today.

i want to know how many puppies i have to smother to get a job in Denver...if i lived that close to the Rockies 24/7/365 i'd be out every other weekend.

thank you...it's a little Olympus point/focus/shoot camera, but it does a pretty good job. i need to learn the various electronic functions, but since the manual is on a CD i haven't gotten to working with it.

EPIC THREAD.

Mountains are really cool. I remember being on a mountain in New Mexico and being able to see mountains in Colorado.

Something tells me Iowa pics wont be as cool as Colorado.

Mostly the fact that I've driven through Iowa countless times (I have family in Omaha).

in Kansas there's a National Monument devoted to the largest remaining tract of undisturbed prairie in North America. the park HQ is placed next to a historic stone house and other ranch buildings which at one time were among the most impressive structures in Kansas.

the prairie grass wasn't as tall as usual because of the summer drought...it'd normally grow to six feet. 1/3 of North America was once covered by this ecosystem.
