a SE KT66 amp, maybe something like 8W max. Its a whole different beast than a Class AB PP amp I will say.

The 15W is where it's at with the gvt line for sure!

Is the 15 watt loud enough to sound evil with a drummer?

2 6v6s in Class AB PP. That would get you 18W with sufficient plate voltage and secondary current. You could design the amp to have dual plate voltage taps to run either 6l6s and 6v6s but thats going to take some serious work and thinking. Another choice would be to just use something like a Variwatt, where you can adjust the Plate and Screen (and Bias if its Fixed Bias) voltages so you can adjust output power from 0 to 100% of the rated output. So like if you did Kt66s you could run them down to 18W if you wanted to using that kit. Its not hard to implement and Skipz Circuits sells a 50W rated kit.

I run mine through 1 or 2 Emperor 2x12s with my drummer and that shit is mighty evil. Also punish it with fuzz and boost pedals so that helps out as well. Now if you're talking a full band situation competing against 50-100 watters and monster drummer, you may have some trouble keeping up in rehearsal but mic'd/PA'd in a live setting and it'd be plenty. It's won't be bringing the Doom Apocalypse, however, if that's what you're after. V2 or V4 for that shit! :thumb:

I just turn to my Dunwich Metro (80W) live tho, use the Ampeg as an "at home/idea recording" option mostly but you could make it work depending on the rest of the band and how hard your drummer beats on the kit....

I've never had a problem with a 15 watter at a rehearsal or gig. Using single coils helps retain a little clean headroom as well.
And a 1x12 works fine. You could always get a more efficient speaker if necessary. That can go a long way without more wattage.

Speaking of drummers and live settings, do you have any clips of your band, Holy Schnikes? I wanna hear what you've been cooking up over these years that I've known you :thumb:

I've got some amateur live clips of my old band around, I'll dig em up soon. I've also filled in for a friend's band on second guitar a handful of times with the Dunwich earlier this year but nobody filmed shit sadly.

As for current stuff, progress majorly derailed this year as my girl's dad first had massive heart attack followed by cancer diagnosis, double-whammy from hell if there ever was one! He's recovering from sum vicious treatments and staying with us now near the city in order to access legit care but all is mostly well now, life gettin back to normal again. Lesson here is DON'T SMOKE or quit if ya do kids!

Finally been hashing things out the last month with myself and my drummer/multiple-instrumentalist wizard and we haven't recorded proper-like. Gonna knock out 5 song EP/demo in the next few weeks. No vocalist in sight tho which blows!

But yeah, I'll get on some old clips. They're literally filmed on a mini-disc camcorder so it may take sum fancy format conversion, we'll see....

Yeah man, I know how life can be.

I'm sure it'll be great; even if it's just a demo track!
