FIRST DIY, LP w/WRHB + Tele Pups.

Post by Nj0rd »

Okay so I am building a guitar..LP shape but with a TBC pickup combo.
I have the body and neck painted.
My question is that I am looking for a good dealer for parts, so all the hardware. That's reasonably priced, with good international shipping rates.
Becausseeeee i went on Guitarfetish and liked the prices, parts and their pickups and was all ready to checkout (everything at about 180USD) and shipping to me comes in at over 50 dollars.
If anyone has places they like to buy off it'd be cool to know :)

Maybe Warmoth depending on the exact order. They ship USPS Priority for as low as $23.
Here is a seller on eBay who has pretty good pricing and ships worldwide but I'm not sure of his shipping rates:

You could also have something shipped to me and I could send it along to you, as long as you cover the cost. I'm not sure if that will help much
but if you are interested send me a PM and we can sort it out.

Also, just curious what is a "TBC pickup combo"?

I will look into this presently! Thanks!
Haha, and TBC = To Be Concluded. Haha.
But i have this idea, I want a tele neck pickup in the neck, and maybe a p-90 in the bridge, or a WRHB!

looking into shipping costs...i dont think it would be much different. seems a medium box priority is 47 bucks. A small is much much cheaper, but then I'm not sure if it would be large enough.
I guess I just gotta pay what i need to. It's still cheaper than buying from AUS. haha. And there is much more variety! Perhaps I'll turn this post into a progress post, Once i take the plunge and buy my parts. Haha.
I don't want to have just a post of the painted body up here for 5 years. ;)

The only way to get cheaper shipping from The US is to go USPS First Class.
Something similar in size to the Medium Flat Rate Box would be about $20.
The only problem with First Class is it doesn't come with a tracking #. :(

Have a look see at the body. It's pretty shoddy painting but I like it.
Can't wait to get the hardware.

cheers! I stained it, and it didnt take very well, so I decided I'd do a kind of dark stain burst. So it goes from black to the dark stain. Looks pretty rad.
I've bought all black hardware except the pickups, which are chrome, so i think it's going to look fucking sick basically. A nice thin tele pickup in the neck
(i bought one of those pickguard pickup modifier things, black of course) and the nice silver WRHB in the bridge. That's going to have a black pickup ring around it,
coz i thought chrome would just be too much, you dig?
Ha.
So I'm super excited for it to all arrive. Probably be a week from now, its just shipped...could even be looking at maybe the week after.
The wiring will be interesting...its my first time trying something like this, but ill give it my best. If i have trouble I think ill have someone i could call upon.
Plus just use the interwebz.
:)

Looks good so far, man.
