Honestly, I think the execution is exactly what he intends to do. I find his films to be visionary and fantastic. I'm excited for Spring Breakers, even though it seems like he's moved to a more normal storytelling format with it.

I'm excited for Spring Breakers, but that's 'cause its full of women in bikinis. I saw Piranha 3D for the same reason.
As for Harmony, he's not even close to the same caliber as other contemporary directors who might be considered "offset"--Jarmusch, Lynch, Von Trier, Van Sant, etc... and he doesn't come close to matching the real masters of innovations in film (Fellini, Antonini, Dennis Hopper--for Easy Rider--). In the words of one of my one-time bosses "they're still letting Harmony Korine make movies? Who lets this happen?"
The best part of Gummo is that Sleep is in the soundtrack.
