Maybe I should be looking into Dimarzio Tele bridge humbuckers?

Re: My First Tele (Poll Inside)
Okay, so I ordered all of the parts EXCEPT for the bridge humbucker, because I'm still tinkering around looking at options.
Chrome hardware, 3 saddle bridge. Going to have an extra switch for series/parallel/split on the controls, like Dylan Carlson and his extra switch.
I've updated the poll again (sorry dudes) with the options I'm looking at aka all splittable pups from each company..... uh... I went with a Phat Cat for the neck, which has a 7.98k output. I'd like a bridge pup that when in single coil mode won't have a huge volume drop when switched to the neck, so I guess close to 7.98k when split.... ? The Seymour Duncan Hot Lead comes the closest when split with 7.4k, but I'm not going to be super picky.
I'd rather have a decent tone over a volume increase/decrease as I could always raise and lower the pickups to my liking to get the outputs to match.
So, I'd like your thoughts and experiences with any and all of these pickups. In or outside the context of a tele. I'd just like to know your thoughts. I don't NEED a super high output humbucker, but it would be nice to be able to split between humbucker and single coil. THAT is what I am most interested in, the tonal difference more-so than how hard it pushes an amp.

Re: My First Tele (Poll Inside)
I have Dimarzio Super Distortion T in the bridge of my Jazzcaster and my Tele Bass VI.
I think in sounds pretty good for a bridge pickup. I didn't bother splitting it in either one
because I really don't like single coils in the the bridge. In Humbucking mode it should
sound good with the Phat Cat.

Re: My First Tele (Poll Inside)
Went ahead and ordered a Super Distortion for the bridge.
So, to recap:
Pine Body.
Squier Jazzmaster neck.
Pickups:
Phat Cat in neck.
Super Distortion (series/parallel/split, might also do in and out of phase if I'm feeling up to it)
Chrome hardware (tuners, neck plate, bridge, control plate, etc)
Black Pickguard with humbucker cut out to fit the Phat Cat
Vintage style 3 saddle bridge
Amber Knobs (master volume, torn about adding tone to each pup)
Chrome straplocks
Olive guitar strap
Going to put Beefy Slinky 11's on it for the time being and see how I like those. So I'll have 14's on the Jaguar, 11's on this, and 14 baritones on the Jazzmaster.
Now to think about wiring. Going to have the standard 3 way switch for neck/neck+bridge/bridge. Also going to have the switch for the humbucker split. Master volume (not going to fuck with independent volumes, I barely touch the volume knob anyways), thinking tone for each pickup as well.
My last thought that I'd like some feedback on- finishing the body.
Had a few possible ideas for finishing the body:
1. Just clear coating it and leaving it as is, its got a decent grain
2. Getting a butane torch and burning the pine a little bit to bring out the grain before clear coating
3. Ebony staining to match my Verellen cab, then clear coating

Figure if I was to stain, I could skip out stripping and staining the Jaguar, possibly.

Re: My First Telecaster (Pine, P90 neck, telebucker bridge)
Yeah, the Ebony would look cool but the grain is cool too. You can always test out colors underneath
where the pickguard will go to give you and idea what it will look like.
As for the switching you could use a 5 way "Super" switch for various neck/bridge combos and
a push pull pot to split the humbucker. That would give you 9 total combinations with out having
to modify the control plate or drill any extra holes.

Yeah, I'll have to test it out. Thanks for the idea!
I think the 5 way switch seems pretty interesting and a little more complex than I was thinking before, which is nice, it could lead to more versatility.
As far as the push-pull, what would the knob be that the push pull would be a part of? Tone of the humbucker?

Actually, the 5 way switch would probably work better if you were using 2 Humbuckers.
You could wire it up with a push/pull volume and 3way switch.
Like this: (make sure you cross reference your pickup wire color scheme:

Cool. I was definitely going to study up on Duncans site once the pups came. Thanks for that chart! Will make it a lot easier for me. Already have the 3 way switch on order, gonna have to order the push pull knob, however

You should just steal Dylan Carlson's Tele set up.

I believe he uses a Dimarzio Fast Track T in the bridge and a phat cat p90 in the neck.

Re: My First Telecaster (Pine, P90 neck, telebucker bridge)
I ordered the Phat Cat from Warmoth since I was already getting 98% of the other parts, so it was a little more than Musician's Friend, but only still $85, not tooo bad. I think between the Phat Cat and Super Distortion it was $160, which was the most expensive part of the entire project, so I'm not going to complain too too hard!
