Bassist needs pedals

Post by snipelfritz »

So, my bassist is interested in getting one or two pedals for her rig and was asking me for help, so I in turn am asking you guys. She's playing a cheapish p-bass copy into a solid state head (I forget specifically which head) into a 1x15. We play post-punk with a decent amount of electronic influence so synthy tones would be welcome.

That said, budget is around $150. I was thinking about one of those Digitech bass synth wahs and then maybe some kind of bass muff. Or at least something that will get a big, round bass sound.

Suggestions? :idk:

yea the behringer synth pedal is actually pretty "WOW". i had one, and then later on tried an ibanez one. the ibanez sucked balls (not in a good way)

tech21 bass driver is a great tool for tone shaping/making your bass sound fat(phat?). made my old roommates 6 string carvin sound soo full and nice.
SUPER PUNCHY!
can dial in the amount of dirt u want on it. plus it also doubles as a DI i think. it also took to other pedals very nicely.
running into other pedals or after other pedals was great too.

or for synth tones u could also just get some fuzz/dirt and like a filter pedal and/or an octaver of some sort. sweeps n shit

That is kind of a tall order for $150.

The behringer synth pedal and expression pedal, plus maybe a DOD Bass Grunge Pedal. I have heard a local bassist that uses one and his tone is pretty fat. They are a punkier band as well. I think all of this will fly in under your $150 budget.

Lol my first pedal was one of those Digitech multi effects with the built in expression jawn. Fuckin nailed the "I Disappear" Faint jank. It was fun to mess around with and would let her figure out what sounds she likes. :idk: I think shit like that is good to learn the ropes with.

if your looking for a fat thick synthy sound a wooly mammoth clone (about $80) into a beringer bass synth wah (about $40) is sounds amazing.

Interesting. I guess I'm just fishing for suggestions right now. That might not be a bad combo though.

Shit, I might as well just get my bassist to open up an account here...

I think the Soda Meiser is a lot better on bass than the Woolly Mammoth. The Mammoth doesn't have enough low end.

Get a Soda Meiser or a Soda Meiser clone (with chaos switch!) and some kind of cheap envelope filter or something and your toanz will be so ballin

Why didn't I even think of Devi pedals?

Well bassist probably reading this now, so yeah. We'll watch a bunch of demos.

Dunno if there are any demos of the SM on bass, but trust me, it's way cooler than Big Muffs or Woolly Mammoths for bass.

Your bassist is gonna be like wtf so inundated with suggestions
