Re: SUPER thick strings/flatwounds on a Jaguar?
Yeah, the different string types all have their advantages. I like string noise in that context too, just not in my playing. Most of the time.

Just a lil FYI..... flats and black metal don't mix..... I've tried
When speed picking palm muted notes you loose the definition needed, flat's are awesome for chords as mentioned though.

hmmm. Maybe I will make the Jaguar the 'heavy' guitar and the Jazzmaster the 'fast' guitar. I think it kind of makes sense though, cause the Jazzmaster pickups have more definition and clarity being single coils

What about half wound or ground wound strings. D'addario just released them. They're round wound string that have the outer wrap ground down almost flat. They're much easier to bend, and you can get more of a pick scrape zing from them. I'm about to put a set on my jag. (she's in pieces at the tech's though)

Hmmmmmmmm. Do they make .13's? I want it to feel like I'm playing steel rods instead of strings!

I was going to say sausages, but I don't want to stroke sausages while playing guitar....

I've put Dunlop Heavy Cores 12-54 on a Jazzmaster copy before and it's nice.
If you're tuning down to C you should have been using 12 or more already on a shorty neck.

Dude sent me a pair of 10s which were eh. I'll be happy for this restring. I'm almost positive that my neck has curved a little bit, I never got the guitar setup after it was shipped out to me. I'm going to have it completely looked over and restrung in the next week or two!

Thomastik George Benson .014-.055 are my choice. They're nickel flats, I don't like chrome.

.14's?!?!?!?! YES PLEASE.
Gah this is gonna be great. I assume I'm probably going to have to reslot the nut and possibly have some bridge adjustment?

Thanks dude! I think part of the reason I want to go heavy is for something different than what I've been using. I'll check those out as well though!

If you need a setup.....
I mainly do setup's for heavier gauge strings, and won't look at you funny when you ask for c standard. Iommic Pope wrote: Skip, you rule. You hate people so much, you're willing to discredit all human progress, its awesome.

Weeeeeeeee. Well I might as well go crazy now that I'm not using the Jaguar for the black metal album I'm putting together. I'm a fan of B. YES LETS DO B. We gotta meet up sometime soon!! I think for the time being I'm going to order the D'Addario 13 flats and see how those feel.
