Digitech saw the boners people got from the Trinity and just had to jump on the PGS Exclusive bandwagon.

I noticed that it's apparently stereo.... anyone know if it's "true stereo" or "dual mono" or just the usual stereo > sum to mono > split back to stereo?

yeah, also known as dual mono, where the left and right channels never get summed into a mono channel and then split back to stereo (which is what alot of stereo pedals do). Really sucks if a stereo pedal sums to mono because if you run separate dirt chains before a stereo pedal or run it through 2 different amps effects loops as it causes the effect to blend both amps signals together. True stereo retains each individual channel without crossing them or summing them.

Well depending on what you had plugged in the dl8 split them and kept them to the dedicated output.

Looks promising. Pity it's only available through PGS. Their mail order is great, but the dudes they hired for their store are uberdouche. My experience with them has really soured me.
