Underground venues in your area

Post by gunslinger_burrito »

So, I'd like to eventually plan out a little/big road trip and try and play some shows along the way. I thought it would be a good idea to ask here. I play drone/noise/doom type stuff, solo. There are links to my stuff in my sig.

Soooooo, does anyone have good underground, diy, or regular ol' venues where I could try and hook up some shows? Doesn't have to be very soon, I'm mainly looking for places that might take me.

Thanks! :hello:

Off the top of my head:

Burlington VT: The Monkey House, Club Metronome, 242 Main, and I'd talk to my buddy Scott, who booked Wolves In The Throne Room last year. He and his crew always throw a big show in the fall, and getting on that should be fairly easy.

Portland ME: Space Gallery, The Deering Grange Hall (which may have been shut down), and Poland Street, a DIY venue/basement I can get you in touch with too.
good deals are here.
flesh couch is here.

Milwaukee has a couple places that are pretty open to that kind of thing. Quarters, Cactus Club and the Riverwest pub are decent bar venues and there a couple DIY venues around town like the Borg Ward or Cream City Collective. I'm still trying to "infiltrate" the music scene and find some shows for myself.

But if you're coming through town and trying to find some place to play, I can definitely put the word out. Usually its a matter of finding other bands that play something similar which surprisingly wouldn't be all too tough in Milwaukee.

I live close to New Brunswick, NJ. The basement scene around here is always switching around, but it's very alive. If you plan on rolling through NJ, shoot me a PM and I'll see if I can get you in touch with someone who books around here.
well i guess, but i just don't know.

On the other side of the lake from Burlington, over in Plattsburgh, NY we just recently got an underground venue called the Rota Art Gallery. They have basement shows pretty regularly and a lot of smaller bands come through and play.

Anyone in the midwest (besides Wisconsin)? I'd like to eventually get out to the East Coast area, but it would be cool to stop and hopefully play somewhere between Colorado (where I am right now) and wherever the next place would be
