Hot sauce

Post by mattar »

Just went to a hot sauce specialty store and picked up some blaire's death sauce and dave's original insanity. Blaires tastes great with pretty good heat, daves tastes like smoke and feels like hell in a good way. I also have siracha and valentina which i love. What other sauces should i check out?

I haven't tried it before, but Ghost Peppers are supposed to be the hottest you can get.

Cholula is a woman's name. But if you like eating a man's sauce, more power to you. :p

I like Crystal reg and extra hot, Louisiana, Texas Pete, Siracha...

Ive had some ghost peper sauce at a tijuana flats before ( i think it was called green ghost), it was hot but not as hot as i had thought it would be. Having said that i am sure that there is a huge difference between the hotest and mildest ghost chili sauce.

The more stupid the name, the more delicious the sauce. True story.

I've had a bunch that are up on that hotsauceworld site.

Just finished off my bottle of Ass Kickin original last week. Was pretty good.
I still remember the Iguana Radioactive from when I was like 12. It was good. I put 3 drops on some family member's burrito and they couldn't eat it.

Being brought up by West Indians, there's only one real hotsauce for me:

Blair - sudden death (great special taste - love it)
Habanero Tabasco is quite tasty
Dave - hurtin' habanero moustard (not that hot, yeah, moustard, but one of the best i ever tried)
more to come, have to check my refrigerator...

(sidenote, at todays jam i played only half of the stuff i prepared - nothing was coming to my mind)

Troof. I think once you're messing with ghost chilis the heat becomes too dominant.

I love hot sauces, but definitely find that cayenne-based ones are my favorite. I just love the cayenne taste. I've never been fond of the taste of habanero sauces. It's not that they're too hot, I just think habaneros have a weird taste. Ghost chilis / naga jalokia are so stupidly hot, they're just absurd. It's basically impossible to taste anything at that high of a Scoville rating, it's just pure fire. Chipotle is yummy too, so smokey.

I like me some Cholula just fine, but this here's the heat for me:

Image

You can only get it in stores in the NW, but maaaaaan it's worth it to get ahold of if possible. Can get hot as hell, but perfectly balanced so you can still taste your food and the sauce.

SPREAD THE GOSPEL!

:edit: Apparently you can also get it in Sacramento and NYC, according to their website.

It's tangy and a little sweet - not vinegary at all! (ugh I hate Tabasco!) It's also thicker than a lot of hot sauces I've tried, and a little chunky.

You can order it here by the each, not sure how their shipping rates are: http://www.foodfightgrocery.com/secret-aardvark-habanero-hot-sauce/
