What's there to do in Dallas?

Post by wdinc01 »

I might be going to Dallas next week, from the 4th to the 7th. I realize that its a big city with a lot to do, but I don't want to waste my time wandering around. So what would someone like me, a 21 year old who enjoys what ILoveFuzz has to offer, fine most fun? I.E. good guitar (or effect) shops, maybe some shows to hit up (seriously, who's playing?), good places to eat on the cheap, bars, etc. This will be happening aside from my dad and I looking for a house.

Also, if anyone of you cool cats want to jam or just hang out, please let me know. There's a chance that I won't be going, but I'd rather prepare now.

For what it's worth, Lower Greenville is kinda nice? You could also like...I dunno?

I'm not a big fan of Dallas.

Yeah, neither am I, but if you're stuck in Dallas may as well enjoy the shitshow?

Uhhh, things to do in Dallas: enjoy the heat? I know And So I Watch You From Afar is playing in Dallas on the 7th, I'll be headed there. If this weren't finals week, I'd suggest a jam, but I'm gonna be hecka swamped. Like Danovan said, good stuff up by Lower Greenville, which is a little north of Dallas.

That's too bad about finals, and sadly I fly out on the 7th but I'll be seeing them in Gainesville. It'd be cool to see them twice (or even three times), but oh well. I think we'll be looking in Greenville as well, so that's good.

It turns out my dad won't be working while I'm up there, so now it won't be so boring. But I take it the answer to my question is: Nothing fun. Don't go to Dallas. I'll go find a museum.

Ahhhh, museum! Of course! If you don't mind dropping a little coin, the Dallas Aquarium/Zoo is a lot of fun. I've been 4 or 5 times, and have a blast every time. You can easily waste a full morning or afternoon in there, but you have to be okay with dealing with a bunch of little kids running around. Also, there's the grassy knoll just down the road from there, which is where JFK was shot. I've never actually been, but I hear it's neat to at least look at. Heard the museum there might be closed for renovation, might wanna check before you go.

As far as music stores, you'd have to go up to Denton for that, there's nothing very cool in Dallas.

If you want somewhere to get a drink, might I suggest Barcadia off of Greenville, I believe. Take quarters, go enjoy a drink and old arcade games! Also, Jenga with 2x4s.
