Cabin in the woods was pretty fun I love the way smoking weed saved that guys life.... Fun movie with cheesy moments. Redneck zombies. Ha! As far as bmovie horror goes this hit the spot.

I hear whining about a weak plot in Prometheus, but I didn't see a problem with it at all....I thought the plot was full of interesting stuff. Surely the plot was more complex and though provoking than the Avengers or anything associated with it (not knocking this movie, just sayin' is all). Maybe the expectation were so high and all the Alien buzz let people down. I saw it yesterday and I am still thinking about it so that definatly says something don' t it?

Ahem, I don't think Cabin in the Woods can count as a B movie. A $30 million budge and $60 million gross kinda puts you on the A list.

If you're going to put that much money into a movie. It should be good. Good by any and all regards. It should have a decent story that has at least some semblance of creativity rather than simply relying on idiotic horror movie tropes. It should have believable characters who the audience has some reason to like.

This movie is a steaming pile of shit. (I'm watching it as I type) If you're going to make a movie this bad, don't take $30 million. Give it to somebody who will actually put that money to good use on a quality film rather than something "fun."

Horror movies are like the jam bands of the filmmaking world. They may have their moments and truly talented people working on them, but deep down you know it's all the same thing and is really pretty thoughtless and stupid.

I saw Alien for the first time about 5 years ago, and I watched it alone at night... had to pull my legs up from the floor because I didn't want my feet to be grabbed from underneath the couch.

I was doing it for both. So I could see everything better, as well as sort of feel like I was there. They are in this dark gloomy ship almost the whole time, so I made my house dark and gloomy. After a while, my furniture/decorations morphed into hexagon hallways and space suits

I liked it a lot but I like every movie with space and aliens and ancient mysteries.... love that crap, can't get enough of it, love every single Alien movie even the ones with Predators, and I'm looking forward to seeing Cabin in the Woods too!

So did you like Alien, Jeromy? Pretty cool movie hey!

I think all the internet critics have forgotten that movies are supposed to be fun, lighten up Francises! (I get that that's some people's idea of fun though...the hating and critiquing... whatever floats your goat, man)

Will snag somebody's BR when it comes out.

Shoulda released it after The Avengers.

Cabin was very fun. Still feel it could've been a bit better, maybe less scientists at first so the traditional horror movie bit feels more traditional, but the redneck on speakerphone bit was such a laugh that I'll forgive its flaws.

Rollercoasters are fun. Film is art.

But Cabin just felt lazy. So much of it depended on a suspention of disbelief and just accepting things. I mean a dozen swat guys get slaughtered in a matter of seconds but the main characters run out with a single hand gun and make it through everything just fine. Sooooooo many little things like that (they have fucking forcefields but everything still runs through a bunch of loose wires under the computer console which just happen to get disconnected at random). Oh and the guy who randomly knows Latin.

But I generally don't like horror movies. Except Cube. And Cabin blatently ripped off the worst parts of those movies. Mostly Cube 2(or maybe 0 I forget which one is just the two guys in the control room watching everything).

chu thinking of 0.

hurm. i..... couldn't disagree more with most of that, especially the Film Is Art (sometimes it should be, but being ARRRRRRRRRRRRT should not get in the way of a movie being enjoyable) but whatevah. that's why life is awesome........ if there was only vanilla and chocolate ice cream and all.......

i LURVED Cabin In The Woods.

For sure! I liked them all growing up. Had Alien & Aliens, and as well as Predator 1&2 on vhs as a kid. I have one of the newer ones on bluray, and watched Predators (from Robert Rodriguez) like 5 times within 2 weeks. They are all cool to me, but I'm not some die hard fan that has been waiting for answers for 30 years

Why so serious...? Are you an actor or someone who is otherwise engaged by the film industry? Since when does art have to be so serious? Art can be fun. I know music is.

Don't you know in the cabin in the woods movie the pothead reaks havok on the wiring when he finds the entrance to the facility....go pothead! Now the obvious question why is the wiring conveniently routed through there? More to the point you hate horror movies so a horror movie that satirizes horror movies will not hold any interest for you...but yeah Cube is interesting.

In the weird world that is Hollywood 30 million isn't a big budget....yeah I wanna barf too. I think Cabin in the Woods intended to have that B movie feel....kinda like Tarrantino's trendy Deathproof or even Machete....which i enjoyed for the cheesy fun factor... Nothing wrong or invalidating with making creative things fun... well at least from my perspective. Just sayin' is all.

Horror movies are fun. Rollercoasters are pure terror!

Ah cool, I thought you hadn't seen those movies yet... I loved them when I was young too, they deeply scared me when I was a kid. I think that's why I like horror movies now so much, I'm making up for those years when they terrified me!

And I did wait 30 years for answers.. I had my parents drop me off at the theatre in '79 for Alien, I was three but really hardcore, and I've stayed in the parking lot since then waiting for an explanation.

I loved horror movies as a child. When my mom and I would go to the rental place I'd always go straight to the scary stuff. Freddy Krueger and Chucky terrified me back then, and now I think they're hilarious and awesome. Don't think any of the aliens movies really scared me.

Fo sho, the film is art comment was kind of an intentional exaggeration/troll.

I do love references to Greek mythology though, so Prometheus has that going for it.
